丸健水産Maruken Suisan
Busy fast-food stand vending satsuma-age, hanpen, curry balls & other street food staples.
Handmade flavors that have continued for over 60 years in Akabane. Fish paste products are carefully crafted by hand, from filleting each fish one by one to shaping them. Satsuma-age can be enjoyed in various ways, such as eaten with rice using mayonnaise or soy sauce, or as a snack. Hanpen can be enjoyed by floating it in soup or grilling it in a toaster. Maruken Suisan's products have more potential than just as oden ingredients. Please give them a try.

If you’re wandering the backstreets of Akabane and see a crowd gathered around metal carts under fluorescent lights, follow your nose — and your luck — straight to this oden gem. We rolled up on a humid evening and were immediately welcomed by a warm, bustling vibe. The woman running the tables spoke excellent English (thanks to five years in Seattle!) and patiently walked us through what to order. Pro tip: let her choose — she knows exactly what she’s doing. The oden? Umami bombs in broth. Each piece better than the last. The house mustard hits hard, in the best way. And the real secret sauce? Ask them to top your sake cup with dashi. Trust me. Warm, boozy, and savoury — it’s like a hug from a Japanese grandma in a cup. We ended up standing beside a lovely couple on a weekend trip. An hour and several laughs later, we were swapping selfies like old friends. Left full, tipsy, and weirdly nostalgic for a place we’d only just discovered. Do yourself a favour: come hungry, bring cash, and say yes to everything.
View on GoogleIt is a restaurant that has the advantage of being able to eat fish cake made directly from a fish cake specialty restaurant. Most people enjoy it with sake, and the atmosphere is good, so it's fun to eat while standing up. However, it should be viewed as a place where you can enjoy and go lightly, not as a place to eat for a long time. We recommend radish and beef other than some fish cakes. Please note that there may be menus you don't prefer for the set.
View on GoogleAn oden shop where you can eat on the spot. In addition to the standard ingredients such as daikon radish, eggs, chikuwabu, and ganmodoki, there are also a variety of unusual ingredients, such as curry balls. You can buy the ingredients to take home and eat, or you can eat standing up at the tables in front of the store. Sake from a nearby brewery, a cup of Marushin Masamune is recommended. After you drink two thirds of the cup, you can ask them to fill the soup stock to be poured into a cup. Tasty and interesting.
View on GoogleInteresting oden restaurant with the famous Maru Cup dashiwari. Oden was delicious and the selection is quite large. Of course you have to drink at least one dashiwari. It works like this, you order a Maru Cup sake and drink until there is less than half left, then you go to the counter and ask them to fill it up with dashi, it costs 50 yen, it sounds strange at first but it is delicious. Overall I enjoyed coming here. The price is fair for the quantity served. It is a great experience though so I definitely recommend you to come here and enjoy! The atmosphere is cool, other shops have their tables outside and it gets crowded quickly.
View on GoogleIt goes without saying that this is Akabane Izakaya King. We also recommend ordering it a la carte. Beef tendon is a must-have item
