I had something to do at 志茂 Station, so I went in for lunch! About a 2-minute walk from 志茂 Station! A small place with a neighborhood Chinese restaurant feel. There are counter and table seats, and the interior is a little cramped. But I don't mind this kind of atmosphere. Haha. This time I ordered 【Cランチ:麻婆豆腐定食(¥1,000)】! My rating is ★★★☆☆(2.8/5)! There are quite a few set meals, so it's genuinely hard to choose. After some thought, I went with mapo tofu. The sansho really comes through, giving it a numbing heat! It packed more of a punch than I'd expected, and I was sweating as I ate. Haha. The portion was surprisingly generous too, and properly filled me up! Also, the fried rice my friend ordered looked tasty. I had a bite, and it was simple and nice. The kind that makes you think, this is all you need. Honestly, the value for money is “average.” It's not super cheap, but given the location and what you get, it's reasonable. Overall, an approachable neighborhood Chinese restaurant you can casually use! I think it's just right for 【people who want a quick Chinese meal】!

It has that neighborhood Chinese restaurant atmosphere, but that's precisely what makes it relaxing, and it's nice not having to feel overly self-conscious. You can casually drop in alone or properly enjoy yourself with friends; it strikes just the right balance. The food is mainly Chinese-style, and everything is simply delicious. The mapo dishes and stir-fries in particular have strong flavors that go perfectly with alcohol. They're the kind of snacks you can't stop eating while drinking. There's ramen and fried rice too, so it's nice to be able to finish with a substantial meal. Another quietly appreciated point is that you can feel properly satisfied without the prices being very high. The portions are generous, and I often go in thinking, “Just something light today,” then end up eating a full meal. I feel like these unpretentious places you can keep visiting are ultimately the ones you stay with longest. A reassuring place you find yourself returning to before you know it. If you're drinking in 志茂, you can't go wrong starting here.
View on GoogleOne of the few eateries around 志茂 Station. It's a typical Chinese/Taiwanese-style Chinese restaurant. There's also one in front of 赤羽岩淵 Station, rather unobtrusively, so maybe it's a chain? If you don't mind going to the area in front of 赤羽 Station, there are countless ramen shops, but if you want to eat near 志茂 Station, wouldn't this be a passable choice? There are set menus, along with よだれ鶏, サンラー湯麺, and ジャージャー麺, so it's practical enough for workers to frequent at lunchtime and such. Though it gets a little crowded. (There are similar places in 志茂平和通り商店街 too.) At night, it turns into a place for drinks with Chinese food. Everyone seems to drink while having various small side dishes. My personal recommendation is 干し豆腐, which I order every time. Personally, it's a little disappointing that they're closed on Sundays. (Since I can't bring people along.)
View on GoogleThe food tastes good, but I went in without knowing smoking was allowed (sweat). Luckily nobody was smoking, but it would be rough if someone were, so it's a shame I can only come at lunchtime when smoking isn't allowed😭
View on GoogleA restaurant I regularly rely on for lunch. The lunch set meals are the ultimate combination of noodles and fried rice, with generous portions!! I keep ending up ordering the same set; my favorite is the 五目ラーメン and チャーハン set!! Holding back the urge to drink every last drop of soup, I always eat it while drenched in sweat. Great value at 850円. They're open at night too, and whenever I look in from outside, there are always customers; it seems to be doing well. Maybe I'll try going at night someday~
