One of Kameari's top long-established eel shops, in business since ancient times(?). It's no exaggeration to call it the flagship shop of Yu Road On Mother's Day, May 10, 2026, I got takeout for my dear mother (and of course I bought some for myself too lol) As always, seriously delicious‼️ Delicious‼️ Sooo delicious~‼️ Fluffy and soft, and the sauce is sweet and goes great with rice‼️ I want to save just a bit of the sauce to pour over white rice‼️ But eel really has gotten expensive (T ^ T) I remember as a kid you could buy just the eel for a thousand-something yen, but the Showa era is long gone… That said, it's delicious so it's the best. Thank you for the meal🎵

A takeout-only shop in the shopping street near Kameari Station. Lured by the smell and smoke of grilling eel, and just thinking I might have an eel bento for lunch, I placed an order. Since they grill it from scratch it takes 30 minutes, but I swallowed my drool and held out. Meanwhile, I strolled the shopping street, and there were quite a few fun-looking places like sweets shops, ramen shops, Kentucky, izakaya, and more… I also wandered over to the Ito-Yokado in front of Kameari Station, which had everything… Nitori, Daiso, Nojima, and so on, such a fun space I wondered if it was really an Ito-Yokado; the area around Kameari Station let me make good use of the time waiting for my eel bento. Next time I'd like to stroll around at a more leisurely pace. And now the main topic, the bento: it's an eel bento for about 2000 yen, with one whole freshly grilled eel finished soft over charcoal, and the owner's skill shows in deliberately not drenching it in the secret sauce so the eel's natural flavor comes through. It was extremely delicious, the best. Next time I'd like to get it with two eels on top, and also buy drinking snacks like grilled eel liver. Bonus info: the landlady who's the face of the shop was a beautiful woman.

A famous shop in Kameari. It's on an old-town shopping street, and the atmosphere is nice. It was Doyo no Ushi no Hi (the midsummer Day of the Ox), so I waited in line over 30 minutes for takeout. The Day of the Ox line is a summer tradition. No bento were sold that day. While we were in line, the staff handed out cold barley tea. I bought a 1700-yen eel, plus head and fin skewers. The eel price goes up in 100-yen steps by size, but I was happy with the 1700-yen one. It came with instructions for enjoying it at home, and when I reheated it as directed it was plump and delicious. The sauce isn't very sweet and the soy sauce stands out, but it's light and nice. Skewers are a matter of taste, but the head skewer had lots of small bones and the fin smelled of fat. Personally, I probably won't buy the skewers again. Next time I want to try the eel bento.

Bought an eel bento. Eel starts at 2000 yen and you pick from the display case. (Prices seem to vary by size) This time I went with a 2500-yen eel. Eel + rice 250 yen, plus tax. They have a wide variety of tsukudani; I'll buy some next time.
