I stopped in while passing near 堀切菖蒲園 Station. Apparently, 「堀切来集軒」 was started as an independently run branch by an owner who trained at 「浅草来集軒」 and has long been loved as a neighborhood Chinese restaurant. 「浅草来集軒」 is a representative long-established Tokyo ramen shop near Asakusa Station on the Tsukuba Express, and I’ve visited several times. I ordered 「ラーメン」 to compare the flavors. The broths gave different impressions. The ramen at 「浅草来集軒」 has a clear soy sauce broth combining chicken and pork bones with aromatic vegetables, with a mellow flavor and a faintly sweet finish. By contrast, 「堀切来集軒」 feels like old-fashioned soy sauce ramen with a somewhat stronger stock flavor. Both are 「Tokyo ramen style」, but Asakusa is 「a bowl at the roots」, while Horikiri is 「a bowl developed as neighborhood Chinese food」.

Of all the neighborhood Chinese restaurants in the 堀切菖蒲園 area, this was the one I most wanted to visit, with an owner who could be called a living encyclopedia of the 来集軒 lineage This time I chose the 角煮ラーメン I fell for at first sight A bowl filled with good old nostalgia from the first bite🍜 Definitely coming back for a leisurely drink next time🍜 Thanks for the meal! #街中華 #町中華 #ラーメン #らーめん #来集軒
View on GoogleI visited because I was craving the long-highly-rated 豚角煮定食 Soon after ordering, a dish with an appetizing color and sheen arrived in front of me. The 角煮 was braised so tender that chopsticks could easily cut it, and when I put it in my mouth with white rice, it melted away in an instant What remained was a faint aroma of star anise and a moment of bliss. Thank you for the meal. I’ll come back to eat again.
View on Google2025.11.17 (Monday), first visit for daytime drinking. A neighborhood Chinese restaurant run by an elderly, hard-of-hearing owner and his son (?). During my visit, the older generation handled the cooking while the son managed the shop overall. Although the owner looked quite elderly, his cooking skills were solid (he even quickly cut a complimentary mandarin into a decorative shape… lovely). Unfortunately, the son’s manner wasn’t very pleasant, so I couldn’t enjoy my drinks comfortably. Perhaps it’s that common 「media attention going to their heads」 thing? So my stars ⭐︎ are 3, leaning toward 2.
