Fast service and good value for money. There are three sizes of rice to choose from for the same price. You order via machine which has the option to be in English.

Matsuya located along Kawagoe Kaido, a 1-minute walk from the south exit of Shimo-Akatsuka Station. It is often co-located with Matsuya, but this is a standalone store (Matsuya is at the north exit). The katsu here is often fried crispier than other stores and suits my taste. There are no particular issues with the service. Please note that the free cabbage refill mentioned in other reviews has ended.

Located between Tobu Shimo-Akatsuka Station and Subway Akatsuka Station. This Shimo-Akatsuka branch offers free refills of not only rice and miso soup but also cabbage. Wi-Fi does not connect. Because the ceiling is low, the perceived temperature varies greatly depending on whether you sit near the air conditioner.

I used to get takeout on my way home in the morning. I only had bad memories of the dim interior, sticky floors, day laborers and elderly people eating there, and me as an old man taking home a bento made by an elderly person working alone. However, the renovated interior is bright, clean, and the staff's movements are efficient and youthful. It's no wonder female customers feel safe eating here alone. I ordered the loin katsu set and katsudon. In these times of high prices, I was moved to tears that I could eat as much rice as I wanted. I only ended up getting two refills, but for someone like me living on pasta because rice is too expensive to buy at home, it was a happy time. By the way, since you can order refills in large portions, it's better to buy a regular portion ticket when ordering a set menu to save money. Please note that free refills are only for customers who order a set menu.
