【まるよし@大山】 You often see ramen with half-size fried rice, but rarely fried rice with half-size ramen. I wanted proper portions of both. So I decided to order both, because each was in the 600円 range. A neighborhood Chinese restaurant whose prices offer a glimpse of why it's popular. ■ラーメン:600円 ■チャーハン:650円 —————————— When I entered, the person right ahead of me had just filled the last seat. I waited inside for about 15 minutes. During that time, the ramen being made in the kitchen looked incredibly delicious. I'd come for チャーハン, but I had to get ラーメン here too. First, the ラーメン. An honest, straightforward soy-sauce ramen with noodles that looked especially good. I had a rough idea of how it would taste, but it fell slightly short of that expectation. The noodles were good, but the broth was very ordinary. You could tell it was chicken-bone broth, but it was light. This is ramen that improves when paired with チャーハン. Next, the チャーハン. The portion isn't particularly large. Someone had ordered a large, so that might be right if you're having it on its own. But just like the ラーメン, nothing particularly stood out. The チャーハン is popular, and apparently almost everyone orders it, but I wasn't that impressed. It's more on the separate-grained side. The チャーハン and ラーメン are a little weak on their own. Rather than ordering each separately, eating the two together creates a synergy. Which means ramen with half-size fried rice would do. ●Arrived Saturday at 11時33分, full (first in line) ●Likelihood of returning|★★☆☆☆ *************************************** ラーメン:600円 チャーハン:650円 【まるよし】 東京都板橋区大山東町31-1 Hours|11:30 - 14:00 Closed|Monday・Sunday ※As of 2026年3月 ***************************************

A place I've always passed when walking from 大山 to 仲宿 and wanted to visit someday. It's also famous as one of 板橋's 5 great fried-rice spots. I'd planned to go to a soba shop in 仲宿, but when I passed this place, it was open with no line, so I suddenly changed plans and went in. I visited on a Saturday in late 3月, around 13時40分. Perhaps because it was close to closing time, they were already out of rice. (チャーハン was finished too.) There was a notice posted outside. I saw マーボーメン on the outdoor menu, so I went in for that. The shop has only counter seating, about 10 seats. There's a TV too, giving it the quintessential neighborhood Chinese restaurant feel. It was full, and I waited inside for about 1 minute. There are 2 entrances, but the one along 山手通り might have more space. I ordered マーボーメン and added 餃子 because the ones the person next to me was eating looked good. Their マーボーメン is really delicious! Plenty of green onion and garlic chives, with generous toppings. The noodles in particular are springy and balance well with the 麻婆豆腐. Really delicious マーボーメン. They also brought out homemade ラー油, offering something spicy. It's nice to adjust the heat with this ラー油. And the ラー油 itself is very tasty too. The 餃子 have fairly thick wrappers. Chewy and delicious. It was a little different from what I'd imagined: the service was very polite, and they chatted with people who seemed to be regulars, creating a nice atmosphere. Next time I'd like to go earlier and try the チャーハン.

My favorite Chinese restaurant, which I've been visiting since I was little. When I was very young, I wanted to order チャーハン, but my father said, “You won't be able to finish it,” so I didn't order it. The older owner overheard that conversation and gave me チャーハン on the house. I love the perfectly balanced flavor and the warm service from the owner and his daughter. My usual order is ラーメン半チャーハン and 餃子❣️ It's always full, with people lining up. I hope the owner takes care of his health and keeps serving delicious neighborhood Chinese food.

Yesterday I had an errand at the public health office, so I had ramen for lunch🍜 There are various places, but I chose the one I couldn't get into when I first moved here because of the line. They seem to have shorter hours now, so I took the opportunity. Arrived after 13時. No line. There was 1 empty seat inside. ◎ラーメン半チャーハン ¥850 A set at this price in this day and age! Both the ラーメン and チャーハン have gentle, nostalgic flavors. I wanted 餃子 too, but gave up on them, sadly😂 The チャーハン was light too, so I probably could have managed them. Next time I want to order 餃子. All the men were ordering large ラーメン. +¥100 Most people had the set, but some ordered 餃子 or カタヤキソバ. The other menu items are inexpensive too. The owner was elderly, small, and rather sweet-looking. Watching him work hard tossing the frying pan and tasting the food was heartwarming. The hours seem short, but I hope he stays well and keeps going for a long time without overdoing it. Thank you for the meal.

A neighborhood Chinese restaurant featured on TV. A few minutes' walk from 板橋区役所前駅. It's a small place with only counter seating, but has 2 entrances, one on the main-road side and one on the shopping-street side. The line seems to form on the main-road side. I ordered beer, 餃子, and チャーハン. You can choose your bottled beer, so I picked キリン. It comes with メンマ and 煮卵. The 餃子 seemed to be boiled before being pan-fried, but the taste was less than expected… Looking at other review photos, even the appearance differs, so perhaps they were a slight failure that day. However, the popular チャーハン lived up to its reputation. Well balanced overall, with a gentle flavor. It felt like I could keep eating it forever. Adding a little homemade ラー油 made it superb. The quiet owner's gentle manner, unlike the usual neighborhood Chinese restaurant vibe, was another lovely touch.
