Neighborhood ramen joint. The menu is only in Japanese and the staff don't speak English either... Basic order of gyoza and ramen will work!

🍜What I ordered 【炒飯】 The ingredients are perfectly balanced, with an ideal texture midway between separate grains and moist rice! The fragrant flavor of lard and the savory richness of チャーシュー whet your appetite. A classic 炒飯 that's simple but showcases professional skill, making you want to eat it again and again. The accompanying soup had a gentle flavor that slowly warmed the body, and I enjoyed every last bit! 【焼餃子】 The balance between the crisp, fragrantly browned wrappers and the plump, springy filling is superb! The juicy filling, packed with vegetable sweetness and savory meat flavor, fills your mouth with each bite. Satisfying to eat and, of course, an excellent match for 炒飯! A neighborhood Chinese classic that's definitely perfect with beer🍺 too. A heartwarming place packed with all the charm of an old-fashioned neighborhood Chinese restaurant. The classic dishes are high quality, with a reassuring consistency that means you can't go wrong! If you're nearby, be sure to stop in and experience these flavors!

柳麺(ラーメン) 550円 + large portion 100円 The rain has stopped, and today is beautifully clear. This restaurant along 旧中山道 is in its 52nd year and was named 「北京飯店」 because the owner learned to cook from someone from 北京. The first and second generations work in the kitchen, while the second-generation proprietress handles the dining room. I arrived at lunchtime, so all the tables were full. I sat at the counter and ordered 『ラーメン大盛り』. The menu is packed with authenticity-minded dishes, with Chinese-character names alongside them. While many restaurants are cutting their menus, it's impressive that they still maintain such variety. The noodles are yellowish, medium-thin, and straight with a slight wave. Soft, high-hydration, and not very chewy. There are 4 toppings: チャーシュー, メンマ, ワカメ, and green onion. Simple. The broth is chicken-bone soy sauce, with plenty of fat. Umami seasoning is restrained. The fat seems to soften the soy-sauce flavor, creating a smooth broth. The チャーシュー was fall-apart tender and delicious. Apparently 「みそラーメン」 is this restaurant's recommendation, so I'd like to try it next time. Thanks for the meal!

Today I stopped by 北京飯店, a neighborhood Chinese restaurant in 仲宿, 板橋, for lunch. I arrived just after 12時30分, and it was almost full! But I somehow managed to get a counter seat. There were 2 people in the kitchen, the owner and the previous-generation owner, with 1 lady handling the dining room. There are 4 tables and 8 counter seats, quite spacious. First, a bottled beer for 600円. A large bottle for 600円 these days is fantastic. Since it was my first visit, I had 餃子 as a snack. Maybe 春巻き next time. The 餃子 are 6 for 450円, with a substantial, garlicky filling. A perfect match with beer. I finished with 味噌ラーメン. Unlike 札幌味噌ラーメン, it's old-fashioned Tokyo みそラーメン, made by stir-frying minced meat, bean sprouts, and onion before adding them to miso broth. The flavor is light, with a good garlic kick too, exactly the kind of 味噌ラーメン I love. It's been a while since I found a 味噌ラーメン I loved this much. Thank you for the meal.

Finished work in the morning, so it was time for lunch and a drink at a neighborhood Chinese restaurant! I was happy the beer came in a large bottle, so I enjoyed some boldly seasoned pan-fried gyoza, then finished with liver and garlic chives with rice. Nicely seasoned and delicious.
