Lovely and delicious soba or udon sets that come with rice bowls. If you like to double carb, eat in a local non-touristy restaurant, then this is the place for you. No English but can easily navigate with a translation app. Staff were very friendly. Would recommend!
View on GoogleDropped by while doing my work rounds, within walking distance of Minami-Tama Station, parking for a few cars next to the shop... no vans... well, looks tight (^^;) So, an old-school soba shop♪ Raised tatami seating and tables, no counter! The menu is fairly extensive, with set meals and even ramen! Yours truly got the katsudon soba set with large rice (¥1000+¥150), served within 10 minutes♪ It was a bit chilly so I got the soba hot♪ Been a while since I had kake soba with just simple condiments! The fairly strong dashi broth goes great with the soba... The katsudon, yep yep, the egg is cooked just right, not soggy! I could lift it with chopsticks to the very end (^^) The katsu batter was nice and firm, just how I like it♡ A bit thin, but well, that's about what you'd expect (^^) Thanks for the meal! There's a Nakau nearby, but atmosphere-wise this place is more of a hidden gem, ◯! 'Cause it's quiet (^^) Well then, take care
View on GoogleRevisited March 10, 2026 My 3rd visit overall, the first since December last year. Ordered a large bottle for 650 yen and katsu curry for 1100 yen (both tax-inclusive prices) The katsu batter's texture was so-so, but the pork was a decent thickness and tender, and I could taste a little sweetness from the fat, a good impression. This katsu seems promising in a katsudon. The curry is on the thick side with almost no heat. The onions are cut fairly large, and it's somehow a nostalgic soba-shop curry. It doesn't have much character as a curry, but it has a gentle flavor and isn't bad in its own way. But it might be at the level I'd want to pay under 1000 yen for. ☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆ After strength training and running on the treadmill at Owens Health Plaza, I came for lunch. My 2nd visit, the first in 10 years. It used to be open straight through, but now lunch runs until 14:30, with last order at 14:00. Last time I had oyakodon, but this time I used it like an izakaya and ordered a large bottle of beer 650 yen fried squid legs 500 yen motsu nikomi 550 yen (all tax-inclusive prices) Kirin Lager in a large bottle for 650 yen makes me happy ^^ The fried squid legs were a bit tough. Not that I couldn't bite through them, but if they cool even a little, they'd probably get really tough. At a level where I thought I should've just gone to Hidakaya. The motsu nikomi has a slight smell that people who don't like it might not handle, but the offal is tender, and the miso-based soup was surprisingly not bad, perfectly tasty. Serving it with cabbage is unusual, but cabbage coated in the motsu stew soup might actually be surprisingly good. Unfortunately there's no fried rice on the menu, but it's nice for stopping by after the gym, I'm curious about the katsudon and katsu curry, and there are set meals too. There are other menu items good for izakaya use as well, so I might be coming here more often from now on.
View on GoogleAt lunch Curry from a curry shop is delicious, isn't it. The soba is simply delicious too. Maybe next time I'll give the ramen a try. An affordable soba shop
View on GoogleA Japanese soba shop near Minami-Tama Station on the Nanbu Line. For lunch I had the mini kisu tendon set (kake soba). The kisu tempura is small but fried crisp in sesame oil, and the rich tendon sauce is tasty. The kake soba is nicely simple too. Being able to eat this at a discount, 100 yen off 1,000 yen for 900 yen, is a great deal. An understated, quietly excellent shop with solid fundamentals of flavor.
