A great place for hot soba on a chilly night!

I visited on Saturday afternoon and tried “sugomori” for the first time. There was parking everywhere, so spacious I wondered how many cars could fit. There are stairs at the entrance—could the restaurant's 2nd floor be a large banquet hall? The staff wore uniforms too, so I assumed it was a distinguished, historic establishment. It was my first time hearing the name sugomori, and my first time eating it. It was generous in size and absolutely delicious.

Parking is easy, and of course the soba is delicious. When I asked the staff, it sounded like weekdays are fine without a reservation. For Saturday and Sunday evenings, it might be worth reserving or checking first. I think this was kamo tsuke seiro; sorry for the half-eaten photo, I forgot to take one before eating.

I love the myoga nasu & butaniku tsukesoba here and visit often. This time my companion had katsuo no hiyashi soba. Not only is the soba delicious, but the fish is fresh too, so creative dishes like this are excellent as well! There are plenty of other menu options, so I think families and solo diners alike can enjoy it.

This is my 2nd visit for a weekday lunch. There was a lunch menu this time, so I ordered men awase! A combination of seiro soba, shogayaki, and inari sushi. The soba was delicious—hardly even needs saying! The shogayaki was so good I thought, should I order rice too?? I visited during the year-end and New Year period, so only a special menu was available. Katsudon with cold soba, and tendon. The katsu used tenderloin, so it was tender and plentiful. Delicious, of course. The soba was GOOD too, with Kanto-style dipping broth and firm noodles! It was nice that sobayu was provided even for a small soba portion, but unfortunately it was lukewarm. The shrimp in the tendon were large with little batter, making them satisfying to eat. Delicious, of course. I'd like to try the regular menu next time, so I'll visit again.
