The best yakiniku place I’ve been to, the meat was impeccable and one of the waiters spoke English which was really helpful. 10/10 would recommend.
View on GoogleA long-established yakiniku place famous among locals; the meat, well soaked in the sauce, is reliably delicious and keeps you eating rice nonstop. The offal cuts in particular are still top-notch. When I visited after a long time, the owner and his wife weren't there, which felt a bit lonely…. It made me realize once again that their atmosphere is part of what makes 大東苑 great.
View on GoogleMy favorite yakiniku place. This day I focused on meat: kalbi, salted kalbi, harami, plus sangchu and egg soup. Delicious. Especially the kalbi. Kalbi with its surface slowly grilled over charcoal. The aroma only charcoal can give enhances its flavor even more. And the moment you stuff it in your mouth, along with the fragrant aroma, the gushing meat juices spread throughout your mouth. What deserves special mention is how good the sauce is. The sweet-spicy flavor and the richness of the fat intertwine exquisitely, and the more you chew, the more flavor overflows. Some people who drink don't order rice, but that's a wasted choice. The kalbi here goes really well with rice. Truly "a bewitching slice that lures you to rice." With the kalbi-and-rice combo, I couldn't stop my chopsticks. Before I knew it, I was getting a rice refill. Though yakiniku is a simple dish, each bite gives a luxurious sense of satisfaction; it was a deliciousness worthy of being called the royal road of cuisine. I visited on a Saturday during Obon. I arrived 20 minutes before the 5pm opening time, but there were already 5 people in line, and by opening time the line was about 20 people. When I asked the staff, they said Saturdays are always like this. On weekdays, I think you could get in if you go at opening time. At yakiniku places, many customers take their time eating and drinking, so once it's full, turnover is slow and the wait gets long—that's perhaps the only drawback.
View on GoogleThe meat itself is on the low-quality side, but the seasoning sense is a winner! Both the spicy meat and the lemon-marinated tongue are addictive, and I can't stop eating rice! You should definitely go.
View on GoogleThe older lady's customer service was the worst. The other staff were fine, but the older lady was just too bad. Silence was a given. Even when showing us to our seats, she just pointed at the seat with her finger, that's it. Good value for money though! Personally I liked the taste and texture of the tongue!
