A soba shop in a tourist area There's a ticket machine inside The menu is extensive and includes sets Tea and so on are self-service I ordered a large portion of 肉そば with shrimp tempura as a topping I ordered large, but the amount was ordinary The noodles were soft It didn't even take the edge off my hunger.
View on GoogleI stopped by for lunch when visiting 高幡不動尊 for the first temple visit of the New Year. It was inexpensive and delicious. It was a holiday, and all the eateries along the approach were crowded.
View on GoogleTurn right out of the south exit of 高幡不動駅 on the 京王線 and proceed along 「高幡不動尊参道」 beneath its tall gateway; the shop is soon on your left. There are no steps at the entrance, so it is accessible. Upon entering, the kitchen is on the right and the ticket machine on the left. Above the kitchen's serving counter is a sign reading 「駅長」; apparently the previous proprietor was the stationmaster of 高幡不動駅. I had 「カツカレーライス」 (850 yen). For the カツカレーライス, the rice is piled toward one side of the dish, with the katsu resting on its gentle slope and curry sauce poured over about half the katsu. Red fukujinzuke sits on the slope opposite the katsu, giving it a very traditional appearance. I try the katsu. The breadcrumbs adhere firmly without separating from the meat, and it is fried crisp and golden brown. The meat beneath the crunchy coating is at least 1cm thick, has a certain firmness, and releases savory pork flavor with every bite. The curry is mildly spiced so everyone can enjoy it, and contains small pieces of beef and vegetables such as carrots. Looking closely at the ingredients, the carrots and other vegetables have broken down to different degrees, suggesting it is simmered with fresh additions again and again. The rice grains are distinct and flavorful too, making me imagine that rice bowls such as 「親子丼」 (800 yen on its own) would also be very delicious. For the price, this plate offers a generous katsu and a gently flavored curry. (※This is purely my personal opinion.)
View on GoogleExcellent value for money I had 肉うどん for about 600 yen. Service was quick too; I'd like to stop by again if I return You buy a ticket from a ticket machine
View on GoogleThis shop on the approach to 高幡不動 mainly serves udon and soba. Prices are reasonable: noodles cost 500〜800 yen, and rice-and-noodle sets are about 1000 yen. Perhaps they only open through lunchtime on weekdays, as they started packing up at 14:30 and seemed set to close once the customers already inside finished eating. I recommend going early.
