It is now under renovation and it is very nice to see a herd of giraffes here.
View on GoogleIf you come to Tama Zoological Park, you absolutely can't miss the giraffes in the Africa Zone. As it has one of the largest numbers of giraffes in Japan, seeing so many of them spending time together as a herd is incredibly impressive, like being on the savanna! The big appeal is that you can take your time watching them deftly use their long necks to eat leaves from tall trees, or the young ones playing with each other. The exhibit is very spacious, so you can feel the animals living freely, and just watching them makes you feel gentle too. From the observation deck you can look at the giraffes at their eye level and really feel how big they are. It's the best photo spot for feeling the sense of scale unique to Tama!
View on GoogleI was shocked there were this many giraffes Σ(゚Д゚) I figured there'd just be a few, but there were loads of giraffes!! There were probably more giraffes than I've seen in my entire life combined, and it was overwhelming.
View on GoogleThere were close to 10 giraffes, parents and young. You can see them up close, and it's impressive. They've put thought into it, like placing the feeding spots close to our eye level.
View on GoogleI thought there'd be about 2–3, but there were maybe around 10. A young giraffe was staring right at us. Each one's giraffe pattern is different, and there are also giraffes whose net-like lines are pure white or ivory. Fascinating.
