Amazing curry, friendly staff and not expensive.
View on GoogleApparently they will close for about 5 months from 2/17 for renovations related to road widening work. An Indian curry restaurant run by Nepalese people, a short walk from Mogusaen Station. The interior is Japanese-style, apparently reusing a former soba restaurant or izakaya, with Nepalese (?) decorations that fit surprisingly well. The daily lunch special is reasonably priced at 680円. You can choose naan or rice, but naan is the only choice for me. The rice is long-grain, which I would not recommend to Japanese diners. Personally, I recommend the keema curry in the 750円 choice set, where you can choose your curry. The cheese naan available with the 1000円 special set is irresistible for cheese lovers too. There is also an Indian curry restaurant around Takahatafudo, but both the naan and curry here are far better. I do not think it is written anywhere, but you can get naan refills. However, even if you order cheese naan, the refill is plain naan.
View on GoogleThere are five curry spice levels, and I chose the middle, medium-hot one, but it was fairly strongly spiced and hot. With the lunch set, you can choose either naan or rice. The naan was large. I prefer it baked a little more, but this was a thick naan. There is parking near the restaurant. The interior is still that of a set-meal restaurant or izakaya, with tatami seating too. Since they use it as it was, it does not feel like an Indian-Nepalese restaurant. They seem to offer takeout as well, and I thought the prices were fairly reasonable.
View on GoogleThey have kept the former soba restaurant as it was, painting the window bars yellow and green and decorating the interior, so it is a slightly unusual space. You can specify mild, medium-hot, hot, or extra-hot curry. The flavors seem adapted for Japanese tastes, but they are spicy. The heat seems toned down, so even I, who usually have about level 3 at ココいち curry, can comfortably handle extra-hot. The flavors vary depending on the ingredients, making me want to try every menu item. It is not on the lunch menu, but my recent favorite is the masala curry with lots of crunchy onions that seem to be stir-fried? I highly recommend the mutton masala curry. You can also choose rice or naan, but both are so generously portioned and delicious that I always struggle to decide. A curry restaurant that is sure to make you want to return.
View on GoogleThe flavors of the naan and curry blend beautifully and are very delicious. The side dishes taste completely different from the curry, so eating them together keeps the meal from getting repetitive. Highly recommended.
