A diner in a residential neighborhood. It's a little way off the main street. There's parking right in front. Inside there are counter seats, tables, and tatami seating, and it's reasonably spacious. Maybe their son is in the Self-Defense Forces, because the walls are covered with related merchandise and posters. The lunch menu has plenty of options, and I ordered the classic shogayaki set meal. There were lots of small side dishes, and the shogayaki was tender, well flavored, and delicious. It was nice to get a complimentary, slightly sweet iced tea.

There was no “welcome” when I entered, so at first I was a little puzzled and wondered if the owner was a bit shy. But my impression changed completely when I saw the katsu curry I'd ordered. There was so much curry sauce that it looked ready to overflow the plate, and at first I couldn't even see the cutlet. When I checked, it was completely buried in all that sauce. When I actually ate it, the taste was undeniably delicious too. With fewer and fewer old-fashioned independent set-meal restaurants that satisfy in both taste and portion size, this was the first place in a while that made me think, “I've found a good one.” The initial service bothered me a little, so I'll give it ★4 (haha).

Since I'll be working nearby, I researched this place beforehand and visited for the first time. Perhaps someone here was connected with the Self-Defense Forces, as lots of photos and certificates are displayed. As for the food, it was incredibly delicious. There are mostly ramen shops and family restaurants nearby, so I'm grateful for a set-meal restaurant. Once I properly start working here, I'll stop by for a drink on my way home.

With consistently kind service and delicious, generous portions, I think this is a lovely hidden restaurant in a residential neighborhood.
