This is a spring located at the foot of the cliff below Hino City's Central Library. These are measurements from Heisei 20, but in September and October the spring flows at 32 liters per second, and even in January, the dry season, it flows at 5 liters per second — a spring with an abundant volume of water. The information sign says: “Central Library Spring This spring was selected as one of the “57 Famous Springs of Tokyo” in Heisei 15 and has an abundant flow of approximately 17 liters per second per day. We have recently carried out work to replace the deteriorated earth-retaining piles. We have placed Kiso stones (foundation stones?) and pebbles and planted sekishō (grass-leaved sweet flag), etc., to recreate an environment where aquatic life can thrive. We also ask that you do not move the stones, etc. until the environment has stabilized. Please also refrain from using this spring water for drinking (the city does not conduct water quality testing for drinking purposes) Hino City Greenery and Clear Streams Division” The water temperature seems to be stable at around 17℃ all year round. The pH is also 5.99〜6.71 throughout the year, and I think it's a truly wonderful spring. The areas south or west of Toyoda Station are also gradually being developed into residential land, reducing the area where water can soak into the ground, but I hope it will keep on gushing forth from now on.
View on GoogleIt's beside a narrow alley below the library. It's faster to follow the path through the library grounds than to walk along the public road. If you walk along the public road, you have to take a long detour. Water springs up and flows out from a gap in the rocks at the left end of the sign. Even during the harsh lingering summer heat, there's plenty of water. The water is refreshingly cold. If you go down the slope from this spring, there's a waterway, and this spring water flows through the waterways of the residential area. Please be sure to see that waterway too! It's so clear and beautiful you wouldn't believe it's a waterway running through a residential area. The way the water plants sway gently looks so cool and refreshing.
View on GoogleThis place has been kept clean since long ago and is a precious spring, but I sometimes see people from the neighborhood walking their dogs let their Golden Retriever into the spring to play, making a total mess of it.
