Parking available. There were dedicated spaces for 3 cars inside the paid parking lot right next to the restaurant. Apparently, if you can't park there, you can get a parking voucher. 餃子定食 set meal (miso soup changed to tonjiru) 💴900 A heaping serving of rice, probably cooked in a gas rice cooker, piping-hot tonjiru packed with ingredients, and lightly pickled cabbage arrived first. Apparently they make the gyoza from the wrappers up. The gyoza in the 餃子定食 set can be changed to shiso gyoza, kimchi gyoza, or chili gyoza by paying the price difference. Payment is by cash or QR code.
View on GoogleI had the 餃子定食 set meal (miso soup changed to tonjiru) for 900円. This restaurant used to serve ramen too, and I went a few times back then, but this was my first visit since it became a gyoza specialty shop. This time, I had meat gyoza. Since it's a specialty shop, I expected something spectacular, but the gyoza were quite ordinary. The wrappers were chewy, and the filling had a proper meaty taste. The tonjiru was packed with ingredients and served piping hot, which was difficult for someone sensitive to hot food like me, but it was delicious♪ The ingredients were daikon, konnyaku, carrot, aburaage, pork, and green onion, I think? The saltiness was just right, and I liked the flavor. I used to like this shop's ramen, so it was a shame it was gone… The owner is quite elderly, so perhaps he gave up making ramen?
View on GoogleThe wrappers are chewy and the browned surfaces are crisp‼️ I ordered a large rice, but the wrappers are thick, so the gyoza alone were hugely satisfying👍 I was driving this time, but they seem like they'd go really well with beer🙆
View on GoogleI had the 餃子定食 set meal with tonjiru. The gyoza were slightly chewy, slightly crispy, and slightly juicy. No junk-food feel. Rather than being heavy and hearty, they were relatively mild, with lots of vegetables and mostly lean meat, making them easy to eat. In other words, homestyle gyoza of the kind I imagine was common in the Showa 30s to 40s. The people who find these delicious are probably somewhat older, middle-aged or elderly. Also perhaps health-conscious young people, or people looking for nostalgia in their food. The tonjiru bowl was on the small side, but with more vegetables and less meat, it was reasonably filling. Again, on the lighter side. When I went in, the customers were also middle-aged and older men and women. It's probably the familiar flavor of the owner, who's getting veeeery old. A flavor I'd like to see passed on to future generations.
View on GoogleI enjoyed beer and gyoza from Saturday lunchtime. Alongside the classic meat gyoza, there are shiso, kimchi, and the unusual curry variety, and they're all delicious.
