Exiting JR Shin-Akitsu Station, curving around to the left and walking about 100 m toward Akitsu Station on the Seibu Ikebukuro Line, just past Lawson, I found an independently run "onigiri shop"! Apparently it originally started out as a stall-style business from a mobile food truck. I heard rumors that this shop's "torimeshi" onigiri is delicious, so I decided to buy some♪ From the Google Maps reviews I checked beforehand, the service had been harshly criticized, so I didn't have high hopes, but a kind young woman served me, and I was surprised that my expectations were proven wrong in a good way (lol) ※I went on a Saturday around 1 PM The most popular one is the "Akuma Torimeshi," a seasoned chicken rice onigiri with "tenkasu" (tempura bits)! It's 200 yen each (tax included), so it's affordable, and it's a renowned item said to be addictive once you eat it♪ Add a cup ramen and you've got a very satisfying lunch (lol) They also sold regular onigiri, but this time I only bought the "torimeshi" series. I also tried the standard base menu "torimeshi," which is the same 200 yen... If you heat it for about 30 seconds in a 600 W microwave, the rice's natural stickiness comes back! Warming it lightly on the lid of a cup ramen works too! Finally, I finished with the 260-yen "Garlic Torimeshi"♪ The punchy garlic umami knocked me out (lol) ※Maybe better to avoid it in the morning or at lunch on workdays… (only for days off or late-night snacks if you "live alone"?)

For some reason there are 2 listings with the exact same shop name on Google Maps, so I'm posting here too. Even though I bought them around 7:00 in the morning, the onigiri were completely cold. The mentaiko onigiri was 290 yen, but it was smaller than Omusubi Gonbei's and not satisfying. Also, when I paid with 5000 yen, I was handed only 4000 yen first, and then the rest of the change afterward as if they'd forgotten.

I stop by once or twice a month when changing trains at Akitsu Station for golf. Even though I only buy karaage and onigiri, they always wish me a good score and throw in something extra. Service ◎

I'd always been curious whenever I changed trains at Akitsu/Shin-Akitsu, and this time I finally tried it. Pricey, but packed with fillings! The sujiko was tasty too. Since they're displayed out front they're not warm, but even cold they tasted really good. Tastes vary, but I like it. "Since you came out in the cold, the oshibori is on the house," they said, making free what normally costs 5 yen. The service made me think they probably offer other little extras depending on the day, too. The staff member was a young woman and very friendly. I'll stop by again when I'm passing nearby on errands. Thanks for the meal🙏

I bought a red pickled ginger tempura skewer. It was the worst beni shoga ten I've ever eaten… Expensive, yet so salty it was inedible The service too… they rang up a customer who cut in line first… And saying "I'll give you the plastic bag for free" felt so patronizing‼️ Not coming back
