The piping-hot bento shop 「日本亭」 is a long-established takeaway bento chain founded 40 years ago. Its commitment to handmade preparation and heartfelt, mother's-home-cooking flavors, preserved since its founding, remain loved by many today. Particular care goes into the rice, the foundation of every bento, with carefully selected first-class rice shipped directly from Japan's leading rice-growing regions. Everyone in the neighborhood proudly says, “The bento shop near our house is delicious.” That is 日本亭's pride.

This bento shop offers huge karaage (fried chicken ball). It is the largest karaage I have tried in Japan. This bento shop doesn't have a place to eat but it prepares two three seats for waiting. Recommending deka kara .

I found this bento shop while looking for lunch. It was past 13, so there was only 1 customer ahead of me. I leisurely asked about the menu, learned that karaage was their specialty, and ordered 4 pieces. They said frying would take some time, so I sat inside and waited. I was called after 7, 8 minutes. When I opened the lid, their presence was incredible, raising my expectations for juicy, meaty chicken. On trying it, the outside was firm and the inside tender and juicy, just as expected. The light seasoning meant I could keep eating without getting tired of it. They probably stay tender because they're made from rolled-up thigh meat. Judging by the quantity, I think 4 pieces contain 2 whole chicken thighs. For an average woman, 2 pieces would probably be enough, and 3 for a man. I ordered 4 and was completely full. The price is on the high side, but I think the taste, quality, and quantity justify it. Eating the same amount of karaage at hモット would probably cost about the same. By the way, 4 pieces cost 1000円.

I used this shop for the first time today. Several other customers were buying karaage-related items, so I think karaage is popular. Apparently, the menu has also changed recently. Lately, more dine-in restaurants have been expanding into takeaway while receiving subsidies, significantly affecting takeaway-only shops. However, this shop keeps operating in a small, compact space by offering distinctive features such as large portions (not needing a dine-in area is a strength, too). Wouldn't this be a good shop for people living nearby? The lack of parking for cars may be a drawback for some people.

I called ahead to have デカから弁当(3個入り), which I'd been curious about for a while, prepared. It contains 3 pieces of karaage, each seemingly about the size of a small child's fist. Apparently, you can't choose the number of pieces now. The rice portion was generous too, making it quite a lot of food, but the karaage itself was delicious, so I finished it. The seasoning wasn't strong, just right, and it was fried so juicy that I thought, “I see, when it's this delicious, you really can eat 3 pieces.” It made me want vegetables and a fizzy drink (haha).

I've used this shop many times. The top recommendation here is definitely the karaage bento. The thigh-meat karaage is about the size of an adult's fist. The moment you bite into it, it's juicy, with meat juices flowing out, and fried crisp and crunchy. I think making karaage this big at home and frying it thoroughly would be very difficult. I've tried many different karaage bentos, but this shop's karaage is the best. After eating this shop's karaage, chain restaurants' karaage inevitably feels unsatisfying. There are several shops nearby offering takeaway karaage, which makes choosing difficult, but I recommend going here first. My child specifically asks, “I want デカから!” and eats plenty of it.
