Azuma Sushi@Hamura Tekkadon ¥2500, bottled beer (medium) ¥700, otoshi ¥500 (probably) One Saturday afternoon, I somehow really wanted tuna, so I visited. About an 8-minute walk from Hamura Station, this long-established sushi restaurant has neatly tended shrubs and an old-fashioned detached-house exterior that gives a sense of its history. Besides counter seats, there is tatami seating, making it a sizable place with 45 seats in total. Just after 11:00 on Saturday, there were no other customers and 3 sushi chefs. I imagine places like this get busy with families later in the day or at night. Although it was lunchtime, ordering bottled beer meant an otoshi was served first. I waited for my tekkadon while enjoying a lavish otoshi of nikogori, sardine nanbanzuke, bonito sashimi, and edamame. The tekkadon came in a gourd-shaped stacked box, covered with akami, chutoro, and negitoro, accompanied by plenty of nori, simmered shiitake, takuan, and other garnishes. The tuna slices were large, deliciously rich and silky. There was plenty of fish compared with the modest portion of sushi rice. The miso soup was tasty too. To finish, I had fairly strong tea and fruit for dessert (watermelon, banana, orange). Thank you for the meal♪

The sushi is delicious. Parking is beside the restaurant. The interior is spacious, with a counter and tatami seating. There is a wide selection on the menu. I ordered jo nigiri sushi. The toppings were fresh, it came with dessert, and it tasted good and delicious. They also served 2 cups of tea, which was tasty. It's also nice that they open at 10.

2025.8, my first visit, in the early evening. I went out of my way to visit an independent restaurant, but it didn't make me think, “I'd like to come again,” so there probably won't be a second visit. It's ordinary, but there's no reason to actively recommend it to others. It was a sushi restaurant set up in a detached-house-style building, with a counter and private rooms. The customers seem to be mostly locals. Parking is available. The sushi menus were just laminated sheets with photos. Price changes were stuck on with stickers. Doesn't this sort of thing show their attitude? There is also a handwritten menu for individual dishes such as chawanmushi. Anyway, the cheapest nigiri was take nigiri (1800円), so I ordered the next level up, jo nigiri (2000円, with soup and dessert). Since I'd skipped lunch, I looked for something with more sushi, like a 1-and-a-half portion, but there wasn't anything like that. You can ask them to make extra nigiri, but the prices aren't written down, and asking the price as they make each one felt a bit awkward, so I just had this nigiri set. It was the style often found at independent shops, with both large portions of sushi rice and large toppings. It was ordinary sushi. What disappointed me was the dessert (made with grapefruit and pineapple). It was so sour that it ruined the lingering taste of the sushi. Dessert at a sushi restaurant isn't something you can choose, so you either eat what's served or leave it. It's a tricky thing.
