The vibes of the location and the presentation of the ramen are both pretty awesome, and the highlights of this place. However, the ramen was just ok; not bad but not great. Definitely the prettiest bowl of ramen I've had though. If you're in the area and want to wait a long time for a fine bowl of ramen in a pretty cool environment, this place is where you want to go.
View on GoogleArrive early. Make sure you grab a number ticket. Staff will tell you estimated time to head back. Amazing atmosphere! Stopped by early summer so weather was perfect. Service was excellent as well. They will ask you to move before food arrives in case they need to arrange seats for bigger groups. It's a 15 seat yatai. Ramen was mellow and soothing. I can tell they made everything in house. Gyoza was alright, though I prefer crispy shells. Definitely worth the detour! Will recommend anyone to go!
View on Googleafter living in japan for more than 3 years, and after countless bowls of ramen, this one takes the cake for being the most mid bowl i've ever had. imagine waiting 3 hours in line on a tuesday night, and being told AFTER sitting down that they're out of eggs, out of chashu bowls, out of rice, and out of gyoza. and then when the 3 hour awaited ramen comes, it's just bland. this isn't an issue of expecting a more rich and different kind of soup, i have had plenty of hachioji ramen (my girlfriend is japanese and born and raised in hachioji) and similar shoyu-based ramens. this one is just bland, nothing special, not done particularly well in anyway. the chashu was fine, good texture but little flavor. the noodles were also fine, no real bite but not mushy either. the onion was interesting but served little to no purpose in being there, i'm not sure why i keep reading reviews praising this mushy little pinch of onions being the perfect match. nevertheless, the service was fine and they seem to be doing well managing the line, and the atmosphere itself is good. it's got a real old-school stall vibe which is fun, although only 2-3 people can actually sit at the stall, and it seems like they prioritize foreign looking customers in choosing who sits where. my girlfriend (japanese) and i (korean), were seated in the parking lot amongst all the other non-foreign folk, while foreigners were seated at the stall. overall - if i was nearby this place and there was NO wait time, i'd maybe grab a bowl on a cold day. however, i would NEVER line up or go out of my way to come here again.
View on GoogleWent there at 6pm on June 12 2026 (Friday) after hiking Takaosan. It's closed. Upon further investigation, it appears there is a huge ads 50m away at a junction, saying it open daily from 11am to 2pm. But definitely not on this Friday. Time is wrong. Is it worth travel all the way to get this ramen like we did? Yeah for the unique yatai atmosphere, but it's closed at stated open time. I didn't know eating ramen is also a blindbox kind of experience nowadays.
View on GoogleI came to Yatai Rāmen Shunya Chan after hearing it might be the best ramen in Tokyo—and somehow it still exceeded expectations. From the moment the bowl hit the counter, you could tell this was something special. The presentation alone was stunning—every element placed with intention, like a piece of art. But it wasn’t just for show. Every bite delivered: deeply rich broth, perfectly balanced flavors, and noodles cooked and handled with incredible care. You can genuinely feel the craftsmanship in every aspect of the dish. What really elevated the experience, though, was the atmosphere. The space is cozy and intimate, with great music setting the tone, making it feel like a hidden gem rather than just another ramen spot. The owner and staff were unbelievably welcoming—they took the time to chat with us and make us feel welcome, which made the whole experience feel personal and memorable. If you’re in Tokyo this place is an absolute must. I’d go back in a heartbeat.
