Fun place to grill your own food. Not great vegetarian options though. Very reasonably priced.

The distinctive exterior and Moai statue at the entrance stand out. The walls look like namako walls? with pine trees depicted in plaster relief? tiles? There are several affiliated restaurants around 八王子 Station. You can enjoy various cuts of wagyu purchased as a whole animal, but my favorite is fresh liver for grilling. It is strictly "grilled," but I sear it very lightly and eat it with sesame oil and salt. The flavor recalls liver sashimi, which has become almost mythical since an irresponsible business in 北陸 caused a food poisoning incident. The lunch sets are popular for their reasonable prices, but current circumstances have forced price changes, and they seem to be struggling lately. Adding fresh liver for grilling and premium horumon to a lunch set, drinking 赤星—a blissful moment.

Dinner at 「焼肉 まんてん」 in 八王子🥩 The place is famous for aged meat, but my personal top recommendation is the fresh liver! It has no unpleasant smell at all, with a springy texture and clear sweetness—so good I'd really want even people who dislike liver to try it. The other cuts are high quality too, and charcoal grilling brings out their aroma even more. The lean cuts and ichibo in particular have rich umami, and it's fun how their flavor changes depending on how you grill them✨ The interior has a calm atmosphere, versatile enough for dates or everyday visits. It's definitely a contender when you want to "choose based on meat quality" in 八王子. I'll absolutely order the liver next time too🔥

A wagyu yakiniku restaurant about 10 minutes from the north exit of JR八王子 Station. As expected for wagyu, the prices are fairly substantial, but the atmosphere and staff service are good, so I think it's a good place when you want to splurge a little. Rather than eating lots, enjoying a moderate amount of good meat is the way to enjoy yakiniku deliciously😁
