[Right by the North Exit of Nishi-Hachioji Station] Yataizushi is a sushi izakaya where skilled craftsmen carefully hand-press each piece using toppings chosen for flavor, size, and freshness. Along with our signature nigiri sushi, we offer plenty of sashimi and classic izakaya dishes. We also have small-size dishes great for a solo drink after work, and course meals with all-you-can-drink that are ideal for all kinds of parties. In the back there's horigotatsu seating where you can relax comfortably. Please use us for all sorts of occasions, from drinks with friends to company parties. Of course, the whole family, from kids to grandpas and grandmas, is welcome to drop by too. Also, the taste of "Yataizushi" can be enjoyed at home…

I appreciate the mobile ordering, and since it's basically empty on weekdays and easy to pop into, I use it. The sushi quality is around lower-middle. Not just the sushi — the plating quality is low overall, so honestly it doesn't look appetizing. The otoshi was way too half-hearted. I think it was a simmered dish, but it was mushed into one clump and I couldn't tell what I was eating. It also bothered me that it tasted sour even though it was a simmered dish. Also, being served beer glasses and plates while they're still wet is unpleasant; it looks dirty (the photo was taken after I wiped them) The drinks are neither good nor bad. The staff are polite and kind. The sushi chef also asked whether I wanted wasabi or not, and having the sushi handed to you across the counter has a certain charm, which I think is nice. Since there's no problem with the service, it's a real shame about everything else. The Yataizushi at the South Exit is livelier and the food quality is slightly higher, but the North Exit one has the cleaner interior, so I'll probably use it again if I get the chance.

The hon-maguro chutoro festival was the best. Delicious. Apparently they hold it irregularly, so I want to go again… The menu is wide-ranging, which is nice. I forgot to take a photo, but the corn tempura was crispy! I happened to glance at the kitchen and saw a craftsman-looking older guy. He was the one who brought us the fried food earlier!! Both the sushi and the tempura — it seemed like a place with a skilled cook. I knew about Yataizushi but it was my first time going in. I'd like to try one somewhere else again. This was a weekday evening, and it was empty.

Even though it was really crowded from early on, the two of them were working so hard it made me want to cheer them on. The young woman was courteous, explaining that there was no half-price deal and that sushi would take a while to come out, so I could eat and drink comfortably. Even though they were busy, they treated every customer in a friendly way, and I was moved watching them. Despite that, the food and drinks came out quickly, which I thought was impressive. I'll definitely go again.

I went to the new Yataizushi that opened in a former ramen shop by the North Exit of Nishi-Hachioji Station. It's next to Hidakaya, and since there's one at the South Exit too, they're pretty eager to expand. At Hachioji Station there are also 2 at the North Exit and 1 at the South Exit. It's happy hour from opening until 19:00. I went in, sat at the right end of the counter, registered on the app, and started with 1 free medium draft beer. You can order verbally or via mobile order, and I ordered the following. Lemon sour 248 yen Otoshi 296 yen Corn tempura 494 yen Toro-taku thin roll 659 yen Ume-shiso thin roll 285 yen Crab-style salad 285 yen Fried chicken wings, extra pepper, 3 pcs 396 yen Total 2663 yen That was it. The corn tempura, toro-taku, ume-shiso, and fried chicken wings were tasty; I had a quick meal. Thanks for the food.
