※The posted photo shows ramen (large portion) A layer of lard and chopped onions float on clear soy sauce broth—the very picture of Hachioji ramen! One sip gently spreads the savory aroma of soy sauce and the sweetness of onions, making for a pleasantly gentle flavor! The relatively thin noodles pick up the broth well, and every bite brings back the nostalgia of old-fashioned chuka soba! The simple toppings of onion, char siu, menma, and nori leave nothing unnecessary, with a finish that makes you want to say: this is the true classic! There is no flashy attempt to be unusual. Yet its appeal makes you want to drink every last drop, probably because it relies on ingredients and balance. An unpretentious bowl packed with everything good about Hachioji ramen!

Visited 2026/05/21 Arrived after 13:00 with no wait; about 5 minutes from sitting down to being served. Yesterday the weather was like summer at 30℃, but today was rainy and cold, so I wanted warm ramen and came here. My order was 「「ラーメン800円」 A lot of information online says 600円, but naturally the price has gone up, lol. It opened in 2007 in the premises left by 千人同心, using the existing fittings, so it has already been almost 20 years. The broth emphasizes the soy sauce flavor of the seasoning base more than the stock, and it is also fairly sweet. The noodles are made by 尾張屋, a Hachioji ramen staple, and are the familiar straight, low-hydration kind. I ate here once just after it opened and it did not leave much of an impression, but trying it again, it feels like Hachioji residents' soul food through and through, and it is delicious. Many customers seem local too, like people from a nearby repair shop or tradespeople stopping for lunch during work on site. Keep up the good work. Thank you for the meal.

For parking, turn left just before the shop and go a few meters; there is a lot with room for about 5 cars. At lunchtime there were also drivers parked and resting, which made me wonder whether this is a place for regulars. Past the noren curtain, there are counter seats and 3 tables. Water is self-service, and the tables are old and a little sticky. The first mouthful of ramen fills your mouth with the aroma of scorched soy sauce or aromatic oil. It is a sweet, strongly flavored Hachioji ramen. The noodles are thin, with a snappy bite. The coarsely chopped onions are irresistibly crunchy. The menma is thin. I also had gyoza but forgot to take a photo. Apparently they are homemade, well seasoned, and sweet. The wrappers are crisp and the filling juicy; they were incredibly delicious.

My first visit to ラーメンしょうしょう, despite the mixed reviews. It is definitely Hachioji ramen, but a distinctive, sweeter and more strongly flavored version. The atmosphere is wonderful. Watching the quiet owner drain the noodles and make the ramen, I already expected it to be delicious, but the taste exceeded that expectation! The lovely motherly lady also creates an atmosphere where you can relax and savor your food. The ramen is so delicious that after eating it for lunch, you want it again that same evening! It is amazing that Hachioji ramen can be this addictive. This is a ramen shop I want to visit every single week. The gyoza mentioned in reviews are delicious too; both the ramen and gyoza are well balanced. Extra onion and extra menma are a must. This is a ramen shop I want to tell everyone about.
