It's inexpensive, but very bland with inexpensive ingredients. Chinese food shouldn't be filled with Shimeji mushrooms for example. The gyoza were good though. The staff is very nice and if you want a cheap pleasant meal this place is good, but I didn't like the food.

A bowl that warms both body and soul. ポパイ's 「酸辣湯麺」 has a deep, addictive flavor At Hachioji's renowned 「ポパイ」, this time I had a set of my favorite 酸辣湯麺 and gyoza. The perfectly balanced sourness and sharp heat provide a pleasant kick. What I love about the 酸辣湯麺 here is how the piping-hot, thickened broth, packed with ingredients, clings to the noodles, staying hot and delicious right through the last mouthful. It is not too sour, and the savory stock forms its foundation, so I cannot stop sipping the soup. Even when my appetite is low, this goes down effortlessly. The gyoza I ordered alongside it were as reliably good as ever. Their crisp seared surfaces and juicy filling pair wonderfully with the rich flavor of the 酸辣湯麺. The restaurant is always lively, yet has a comforting, homely atmosphere. It is also a pleasure to watch the staff work so efficiently. The satisfaction of leaving full and gently sweating is hard to find elsewhere. I will be back to recharge my energy. Thank you for the meal!

This place is always busy, so I dropped by to see what it was like. When I arrived before 1 p.m., the parking lot was almost full and 4 groups were waiting. The menu includes ramen, ハンちゃんラーメン, set meals⋯ a Chinese restaurant serving all sorts of things. This time I chose ワンタンメン細麺 (990円 including tax) and 山盛り餃子, 10 pieces (660円 including tax). The bowl arrived without much waiting. The ramen was quite hot and felt freshly made; it seemed positively lively (^^). Despite the heat, the noodles had a firm texture and were pleasant to eat. The soup, menma, and char siu were nothing particularly special, but not overly salty and gentle on the palate. The wontons had springy wrappers and nicely seasoned meat (^^). The gyoza were freshly pan-fried and crisp, with lots of crunchy cabbage. They felt freshly made and were pleasant to eat♪(^^) Although the taste did not feel particularly special, the food had energy, the prices were reasonable, and there is no afternoon break, with continuous service from midday〜night, making it easy to drop in. I think that also explains its popularity. Once you know it, it feels easy to think, 'Oh, shall we stop by ポパイ?
