Large Hachioji chashu men, 1400円. Awful. The noodles are the cheapest kind sold in supermarkets that you just briefly blanch. The soup is just store-bought kaeshi diluted with hot water. Must be nice to call it Hachioji ramen just by putting a little onion on ramen even an elementary school kid could make. Despite using such cheap ingredients, they cut soup costs with a bowl that narrows sharply toward the bottom. Well, probably because everyone leaves soup like this anyway. The breakdown of 1400円 feels like ramen (400円) + 3 slices of chashu (1000円). I suspect the people writing that this is delicious were stranded in the mountains for ages, and this was their first meal after being rescued.

View on Google石川PA is the first parking area after getting through the inbound traffic jam at Kobotoke Pass. Though compact, it has a variety of shops. I tried Ishikawa soba, named after the parking area, and it was a huge miss. The noodles seemed like fresh soba, so they were still fine. The broth was light, which is a matter of preference, but still acceptable. What I couldn’t accept was the chicken nuggets in it. They ruined the otherwise nice isobe-age. Chicken nuggets in soba are unthinkable. It would be fine as an experimental menu item at Fuji Soba, but not as a regular dish, especially one named after the parking area. Charging nearly a thousand yen for this is outrageous. I’m pointing this out harshly here so that anyone reading this doesn’t end up ruining a meal.
View on GoogleA valuable spot where I can easily enjoy Hachioji ramen, my current obsession. Regular serving ¥800- Large serving ¥980- I meant to order a regular, but I was spacing out and ended up ordering a large😅 The flavor was neither above nor below expectations—exactly the taste of Hachioji ramen. There were plenty of onions and noodles, making it satisfying. Thank you for the meal.
View on GoogleThis shop is at the inbound 石川PA in Hachioji. I don’t often get a chance to eat ramen at highway parking areas, but I happened to stop by. I bought a meal ticket right away. I chose Hachioji ramen. It costs 880円. After a while, my order number was called. It was Hachioji ramen topped generously with onions. It was so good I wouldn’t have guessed it came from a parking area. Simple yet delicious, I think Hachioji ramen ranks quite highly among regional ramen styles. Thank you for the meal.
