My first visit was on 2026.4.26 (Sunday) at 5:50 p.m. This is an old-fashioned okonomiyaki restaurant just off Hoshasen-dori in Hachioji. I'd wanted to visit for ages. There are counter seats inside, but most seating is at tables, including a raised floor area. Each table has a griddle, and you cook your own food. I think I ordered negi shoga monja for 650円, pankatsu for 400円, and an oolong high for 500円. In this day and age, those prices are incredibly cheap. Since you cook the monja yourself, I can't really judge how good it is. But at old-fashioned okonomiyaki places, you always cooked it yourself. As for pankatsu, Hachioji's D-grade gourmet food, this was my first time eating it despite living in Hachioji for over 50 years. It was bread that had been griddle-cooked rather than breaded and deep-fried, then spread with sauce. The soft, sauce-soaked bread was superb. It was also really filling. This cozy restaurant is like a little air pocket in Hachioji's entertainment district.
View on GoogleSince I'd come all the way to Hachioji, I had to eat pankatsu, so I searched for it! Super old-school, but delicious~ Still, I preferred the monja and okonomiyaki after all, lol
View on GoogleA place that takes you back to the Showa era. It's also one of the few places where you can enjoy "pankatsu," Hachioji's local C-grade gourmet specialty. Drinking a ramune sour under fluorescent lights with pankatsu as a snack! It's an okonomiyaki restaurant, but they kindly welcome you even if you're only having pankatsu… truly a "candy shop for adults.
View on GoogleA nostalgic atmosphere, with a very calm retro interior where you can take your time. The monja has that strong sauce flavor I love. It makes the drinks go down easily. Prices were reasonable too, starting in the 500円 range! It was my first time eating pankatsu! It really fills you up. I was happy with everything: the atmosphere, prices, and taste!
View on GoogleIt's a short walk from Hachioji Station, and the place has a retro Showa atmosphere(*^^*) The okonomiyaki prices are so reasonable, almost like they're still the old prices? Yet the batter is nice and chewy♪ The portions are easy to finish, so even though I came alone, I wondered whether to have 1 more lol As someone from Kansai, okonomiyaki and rice are a must for me, so I was glad they actually had rice on the menu♪ Any okonomiyaki place that serves rice is a definite repeat visit for me♪ But the first serving of rice was rather small (could this be… because I look like I don't eat much?), and it wasn't enough, so when I asked for more, they asked how much rice I wanted♪ They also said, 'We'll bring your rice when the okonomiyaki is nearly ready,' which was wonderful hospitality♪ Some places bring the rice before it's cooked, and the rice goes cold~. So that thoughtfulness made me happy! Okonomiyaki 【butatama】 and a refill of rice cost just over a thousand yen! I don't drink alcohol, so having self-service water was handy too. I'll be back here♪
