We stopped by for lunch, staff was very welcoming even though we had a baby in a buggy with us. We ordered the No. 1 spicy miso ramen with fried rice and some gyoza. The food was delicious and portions very generous. The place has a good retro vibe and the prices are very friendly. Japanese toilet only. I would go again and can recommend for a casual lunch.
View on GoogleWhile searching online because I wanted ジャージャー麺, I found a “ジャージャーメン” with a completely unexpected appearance, so I visited. I went during lunchtime on a weekday, but the restaurant was constantly full. It seems very popular with people in the neighborhood. Most visitors seemed to be regulars. Inside are 3 tables seating 4 and a counter at the back. The place is full with about 20 people, but customers just keep coming, leaving and entering, leaving and entering, so 【sharing tables】 seems to be the default. At the tables, you sit facing other customers across a fairly large acrylic divider. Given the size of the tables, it didn't bother me much, but I'm mentioning it just in case. That said, the lady running the dining room is very good at seating customers. She briskly assigns seats, and even with the place full, turnover kept moving smoothly. Now, of course, the dish I ordered was “ジャージャーメン.” On the menu, it was listed as “肉味噌ラーメン.” Not long after ordering, the ジャージャーメン arrived looking even more tempting than in the photos. A generous amount of thick meat-miso sauce covered the Chinese noodles, filling the bowl. There isn't broth in it; it's all thick sauce. The ingredients are simple: just ground meat and chopped onion. Is the slightly spicy sauce based on doubanjiang? Tasting it, the spicy miso sauce was packed with umami. Very delicious. Though it looks different, it does have a ジャージャーメン-like flavor. Regardless of whether it's really ジャージャーメン, its one-of-a-kind taste is irresistible. I thought it was a must-try bowl. However, with this much thick sauce, it is unbelievably hot. It stays hot forever. I couldn't slurp the noodles at all. That heat was another memory etched into my mind. Besides this ジャージャーメン, many people were ordering something called “ジャー玉.” I imagine it's ジャージャーメン with egg ribbons. I'd definitely like to try it next time. Some people also ordered their ジャージャーメン with “chilled noodles.” Considering how hot the sauce is, even though I usually prefer hot noodles, I thought chilled noodles were a valid option for this ジャージャーメン. There's lots of sauce, but the amount of noodles felt slightly less than usual, so ordering a large portion or adding rice might be good. Even so, being able to eat this ジャージャーメン for 700円 a bowl is quite special. The restaurant's dedicated parking has spaces for 3 cars about 20m along the side street beside the restaurant. There are also several paid parking lots nearby, but they were all full when I visited. I couldn't see any facilities nearby that would draw crowds, so I wasn't sure why demand was so high, but I found parking somewhat difficult to find. If you're prepared to walk a little, I found plenty of vacancies in paid parking lots about a 10-minute walk away. It was a bowl I'd definitely like to eat again.
View on GoogleDelicious! About 15 years ago, I often went to the affiliated restaurant in 中町. The spirited staff member saying “Here's your ジャー!” as they served it caught me off guard, but it's genuinely delicious. The gyoza are thin-skinned, meaty, and delicious too, and the A set leaves you full. A great restaurant in 八王子 that I hope stays open forever.
View on GoogleA restaurant I've been going to for decades. Back then, it was the main restaurant in 横山町. I always eat ジャー. Still delicious as ever. Hot, and such a huge portion. The gyoza are delicious too. I'm uncomfortably full from eating too much.
View on Googleジャージャー麺, I think it was, and rice. My friend likes it, so we go occasionally. The person sitting in front of me was eating bean sprout ramen, and it looked delicious. Next time I'll have the bean sprout ramen.
