Is the otoshi a bit pricey?" 2025/12/13 Visited on a Saturday night. Came in around 17:30 with no one else there; later customers were a group of 4 and one solo diner. "Sashimi platter": 1600 yen (probably tax-included, same below) / ★4 The toppings were 4 kinds: isaki, octopus, chunks of tuna, and squid. Reasonably tasty. "Oden platter": 750 yen / ★3.5 The items were daikon, egg, konnyaku, chikuwa, beef tendon, atsuage, and kombu. It looks strongly flavored, but the seasoning is just right. "Una-tama-yaki": 750 yen / ★4 A rolled omelet packed with grilled eel kabayaki—just right as a snack with hot sake. Besides the food, the two of us had a "bottled beer (medium bottle)" for 550 yen and "hot sake (large)" for 750 yen, for a total of 6100 yen including tax. Working backward from the bill, the "otoshi" comes to 850 yen per person. That's a bit on the pricey side. That said, it was a warm pot-au-feu-style simmered dish, and not bad at all as an otoshi.

I don't even want to give it a star, and I'll never go again. I'm also contacting the public health center. If they haven't been shut down, I'll report them again. All the owner said was "Sorry about that." After making me eat food with a cockroach in it, they still charged me in full. Hygiene management is extremely poor. The oil is old too—they poured oil that's been reused for who knows how long from a can into the pot, used it, and then poured it back into the can. I see no intention to improve, so unless you want to eat cockroaches, I recommend not going. 🪳Update🪳 I contacted the public health center, and they said they'll do an inspection. They said a business suspension would be difficult since there was no food poisoning, but I had diarrhea all the next day, so I definitely got some kind of food poisoning.

I heard it was recently renovated; I'd become an izakaya refugee, happened to stumble on it, and went in for the first time. You can tell the owner's depth from the otoshi. Every snack is delicious. Heartwarming chats with other customers that just keep flowing. Makes me realize I've gotten old too.

A down-to-earth tavern overflowing with good Showa-era vibes. I leisurely drank beer and highballs, and my heart was at ease.
