I haven’t had such a wonderful lunch in a while. They’re open only on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. We called them Friday at around 11am and made a reservation for the next day. Everything was to my liking. Grilling skewers on charcoal made everything taste good. Add the high quality vegetables and meat, and how they serve everything. The walk from Naganuma station to this beautiful place was another delightful experience too. Sound of birds chirping and lots of trees around you. It was uphill for about 15 minutes which was a good workout. There’s an option to take a cab to the place, which I’m happy with because I plan to take my senior mom with leg injury. I can’t wait to be back.
View on GoogleGreat walk through the woods on the way there, wonderful ambient and a one-of-a-kind experience of irori dining. Highly recommend to visit them!
View on GoogleA new friend told us about this old restaurant that is fairly local for us. So finally we called and made a reservation as the reservation is required. This was a unique Japanese traditional style restaurant featuring open barbecue pits. We picked the chicken selection from the menu. The hostess, one of the seniors of the staff, was very polite and respectful and provided information about the place. We learned that it is over 100 years old, and the Emperor visited in 1955, as there are pictures from the newspapers. Finding the place and getting there can be a bit of a challenge but Google maps allowed an additional route when a friendly daikokujin advised us to use another route and use the designated parking space. I took my Go pro and will make a short video of the trip to be show later after editing. The 5 minute walk up the twisting path from the official parking lot can be slippery especially if recent rains so be careful. Seniors with weak knees may want to try the narrow road but only if you have a small car. We recommend using a mosquito spray such as DET and we were not bitten nor bothered by insects.

View on GoogleI booked the 3800円 young chicken skewer course for lunch. It's strictly reservation-only, and sitting around an irori in an old traditional house, grilling skewers just how you like them, makes for a wonderful time. The beer goes down easily too. Surrounded by greenery, the location is especially beautiful during the fresh green season, with scenery you wouldn't believe is in Tokyo. The skewers are generous, and there's plenty of barley rice with grated yam to finish, so you'll be full, but it's a highly satisfying course. It's far out in the suburbs of Tokyo, and you have to climb a mountain path from Naganuma station, so getting there takes a little effort, but it's well worth the visit. Reservations fill up at this time of year, so booking early is recommended.
