Super friendly chef and food was delicious! Best udon I’ve ever had. Highly recommend
View on GoogleBest udon in hachioji. Best service. He have a lot of good sake
View on GoogleAt around 13 on a weekday, I visited an udon shop about a 10-minute walk from Hachioji Station! Last orders are at 13:45, but at this time I got in smoothly without waiting. The interior isn't cluttered; it's a neat, clean space. This time I ordered "niku bukkake (small, 700円)." They politely explained that boiling would take about 10 minutes. The udon that arrived seemed slightly thinner than typical Sanuki udon. The noodles had a mixture of soft sections and firmer, chewy sections, and went down smoothly—a reasonably tasty bowl! I chose "small" this time, but even for me, a naturally light eater, it left me about eighty percent full, so I recommend men or those wanting a substantial meal order "medium" or larger. Fried items were self-service, but they said they would freshly fry your preferred item if you asked the staff. Payment is available in cash and PayPay. I enjoyed the udon itself, but one disappointing thing was that someone who seemed to be the manager was reprimanding a staff member somewhat harshly at the storefront in customers' view… It made me feel a little uncomfortable, so I hope the service side can make this an even nicer restaurant!
View on GoogleMy first visit was around 11:30 to this shop a short walk off the main road near Hachioji Station. The interior was a little dark?? A simple counter-only shop, where I was invited to take any empty seat… Wanting to taste the dashi simply, I ordered a large kake udon (hot), ¥650-. When ordering, I was told boiling would take about 10 minutes, so I waited… ◾️About the kake udon While waiting for the udon, I was told to help myself to whatever tempura I liked from the selection… I took 2 items, chikuwa and egg, ¥200-, then waited a little for the udon… The kake udon arrived in about 10 minutes. Since it contained 3 portions of noodles, it came in a fairly large bowl with udon and a little chopped wakegi onion… The broth had gentle iriko dashi seasoning, very light and easy to drink, with a strong dashi savoriness. With the udon, I first noticed the wheat's subtle sweetness and the noodles' flavor—the noodles themselves were delicious‼︎ They also went down very smoothly, but lacked chew for Sanuki udon, which was a little disappointing. The chikuwa tempura was quite large, and the soft-boiled egg tempura was fairly large too. The batter was thin and light, well drained of oil, and the tempura was delicious as well. The price was low, and I think it was good value. Thank you for the meal.
View on GoogleI ordered kake (hot) with two portions of noodles, assorted vegetable tempura, and Heartland beer. At the counter with its warm wooden feel, the quiet arrival of a steaming bowl conveyed careful workmanship. The udon was glossy and neatly arranged, and the clear dashi's aroma rose gently. In the mouth, gentle savoriness spread, with a pleasant balance of chew and smoothness. The wheat aroma developed with every bite, and the precise boiling and cold-water firming showed the craftsperson's skill. Next came three kinds of vegetable tempura: eggplant, pumpkin, and sweet potato. The batter was thin and light, highlighting the ingredients' sweetness amid the fragrant fried oil. The eggplant was moist and cooked through, the pumpkin gently sweet, and the sweet potato fluffy with spreading natural sweetness. With the accompanying salt, the ingredients' wholesome flavors stood out even more and paired wonderfully with Heartland's refreshing bitterness. Throughout, the food was unshowy but guided by the firm principle of "doing nothing unnecessary and cutting no corners." A quiet satisfaction settled in after the meal; this was a place that added a moment of quality to everyday life.
