Good value for money
View on GoogleOur family loves set-meal restaurants. After getting off at the Hachioji interchange, we searched for one in Hachioji and found Ichikawa Shokudo. As you can see in other reviewers' photos, the interior feels like a Showa-era set-meal restaurant, but it's nostalgic and nice! The chashu in the chashu ramen is superb! And at 650円, the value is fantastic! There are 4 people in our family, and perhaps out of consideration, they bring the food to the table once the cooking has progressed enough for all our orders to be ready together. However, when the ramen was made first, the noodles became a little soft. If you order ramen, it might be worth asking them to bring it immediately after it's cooked! There is parking for 1 car, but it's hard to find, so ask when you enter ^_^
View on Google【Asakusa Kid visited too! A neighborhood Chinese diner where Grandma's stir-fried meat and vegetables, hamburger steak, and smile are incredibly delicious】Asakusa Kid's Tamabukuro Sujitaro from “Machichuka de Yarouze” visited too! My first visit to Ichikawa Shokudo, a neighborhood Chinese diner run by an elderly couple, @ the Hachioji south exit shopping association area. When I first ordered a large bottled beer for 600円, it came with tamagoyaki! Then Grandma's stir-fried meat and vegetables, made while swinging her wok, had huge pieces of pork & loads of vegetables and was incredibly delicious! It makes you want to order all sorts of things. So I added a hamburger steak and an oolong high. ……This is big news! Despite being a long-established neighborhood Chinese diner with delicious stir-fried meat and vegetables, its classic Western dish, hamburger steak, was also astonishingly delicious! As good as, if not better than, Sawayaka, Biku Don, and every other kind of hamburger steak! The presentation with potato salad, a fried egg, and pineapple was adorable too. Grandma is amazing. Then I ordered chashu ramen to finish……this place is interesting. The stir-fried meat and vegetables are incredibly delicious, just as you'd expect from a neighborhood Chinese diner, and the hamburger steak, which you wouldn't expect, is also incredibly delicious. I kept marveling at Grandma's skill, and the chashu ramen looked incredibly delicious! But this alone tasted ordinary, haha. Some people might be surprised by the gap between its striking appearance and its taste. But Grandma smiled happily and said, “Thank you for eating so much,” so everything felt delicious! I'll be back, Ichikawa Shokudo (next time I also want curry rice, crab omelet fried rice, omurice, yakiniku, and gyoza)!
View on GoogleAbout a 5-minute walk from the south exit of JR Hachioji Station. There is no noren curtain at the entrance, but a marker flag is visible on the street, so it is easy to find. I ordered the yakiniku set meal, and it was nice that it came with a small side dish, tofu, and miso soup. At 700円, it's inexpensive. The nostalgic flavor was delicious. The 3 elderly staff, women and men, work hard and provide attentive service.
View on GoogleI went to Ichikawa Shokudo, where the locals gather! This diner is run by an elderly couple, has a warm atmosphere, and is loved by local residents! I arrived toward evening and sat at a table at the back! While I was looking at the menu, a grandma with a bent back welcomed me with barley tea! The specialty is homemade gyoza, but this time I wanted tonkatsu, so I ordered a large katsu set meal! My companion ordered the reliably good yakisoba with thick sauce and a beer! There are only table seats inside, and locals were having a drink and chatting! About 12 minutes after the elderly grandmas went into the kitchen, my large katsu set meal arrived! The meal had a rich assortment of components, so you could eat a balanced meal! When I picked up the katsu with chopsticks, the coating came away from the meat, an endearing little flaw (haha). But that's part of the charm! After all, these elderly grandmas worked hard to make this katsu for me, so I happily ate it without complaint! The home-style set meal somehow made me feel safe and at ease as I ate! The long-pickled cucumber that came with it was particularly delicious; its pleasantly sour flavor would whet your appetite when the summer heat leaves you without one! I carefully savored each part of the meal the grandmas had made and finished the katsu set! My companion's yakisoba with thick sauce was delicious too, especially the sauce, and its generous vegetables made it satisfying! This diner offers inexpensive set meals and ramen too, so everyone, enjoy eating your fill at Ichikawa Shokudo! By the way, elderly grandmas do the cooking, so please be understanding about how quickly or slowly it comes! With heartfelt thanks to Ichikawa Shokudo, where locals gather, and to the grandmas, thank you for the meal!
