【An old-fashioned neighborhood sushi shop】 Visited 2024.02 Parking available The counter is a little cramped, but the tables in the tatami seating area are spacious. I'm not sure why sakura is in the name, but 「桜にぎり1.5」 and 「海鮮丼」 both cost 1,825円 and come with chawanmushi and soup. Over my lunch budget, but I ordered with high hopes for the contents. The aged tuna was distinctive, with a soft, sticky texture I hadn't encountered elsewhere, but the other toppings didn't seem freshly purchased that morning and lacked freshness. Getting 2 pieces of the same topping also made the selection uninteresting. Personally, I was disappointed by the absence of silver-skinned fish and white fish too. For lunch, I don't need salmon roe and such; I'd rather have more variety. The rice and toppings were small, so the portion was unsatisfying too. With sweet shrimp this small, 1 shrimp per 1 piece is just too meager. The squid was cut thickly but was tough, so I'd like more scoring to make it easier to eat, and the shiso leaf was too dry and unpleasant in texture. And a whole cucumber roll is simply difficult to eat. Unlike the nigiri, the seafood bowl included salmon, white fish, and more. The rice was vinegared, with an amount that seemed about right for women but insufficient for men. Overall, I didn't feel it was good value and wasn't very satisfied. The courteous service and stronger 2nd cup of tea were good.

I come here occasionally for lunch and dinner. Not only the nigiri but also the wide range of side dishes, such as simmered fish, are so affordable and delicious that I almost feel guilty. The kombu-cured white fish from the Goto Islands in Nagasaki, where the chef is from, includes varieties you won't find elsewhere, and I always look forward to comparing them. The atmosphere is homey, and it's a treasured local sushi shop. There is parking beside the restaurant for about 4 cars

I visited in the early evening and enjoyed delicious sushi‼️ All the varieties of kombu-cured fish are exceptional. There's a wide selection of drinks, and chatting with the chef was fun too‼️ I'd like to visit again‼️
