Very good option for dinner! No table charge. A bit difficult to find in the dark, go slowly
View on GoogleThe building on the sea side has a nice view! It might be hard to find at first, but once you've been there, you'll be fine. The yellow curve mirror is the landmark, and the Soka Gakkai sign works as a landmark too.
View on GoogleOn a night in Hachijojima, I wanted to dine somewhere special, so I made a reservation and visited. POSEIDON was a restaurant that truly lived up to that expectation. The space, with its calm lighting and the warmth of wood, has an atmosphere that makes you forget for a moment that you're on Hachijojima. There's a refined air you wouldn't expect at a tourist spot, and time passes pleasantly and quietly. Every dish was carefully prepared, with gentle flavors that bring out the quality of the ingredients. The caprese had an exquisite balance of mozzarella, tomato, and olive oil, a refreshing touch fitting for the first dish. The chicken liver had zero gaminess and a fluffy texture. The pumpkin gnocchi paired the gentle sweetness of pumpkin with a creamy sauce, a flavor that put my heart at ease more with every bite. Not flashiness, but sincerity felt in each and every plate, bringing a quiet sense of being moved. Every dish had that perfect balance, with a touch of urban sensibility. The staff were kind too, with a natural sense of distance and attentiveness that felt comfortable, making it a perfect dinner to end the trip. It's a precious place where you can feel a little "urban" afterglow during an island trip. It was a lovely place I'd love to visit again on a special night. Thank you for the meal.
View on GoogleWe stayed here for 2 days, 1 night in late July 2025. We went round-trip by plane, which apparently only has 3 flights a day? The flight was listed as about 1 hour, but you get there in no time. ※On the map it looked far. ※By boat it apparently takes 5-6 hours. A rental car is essential. Summer seems to be peak season, and since we booked at the last minute, we finally managed to rent one at the 6th rental company. The lodging was a log house that just opened in 2023, with a nice wood scent, a brand-new toilet and kitchen, and very clean. There's air conditioning too, so it's comfortable. You can see the stars beautifully. During the day the location is amazing. The bedding was clean and I slept soundly. It's room-only, so you should look for and book restaurants in advance. ※Unfortunately the adjacent restaurant was closed😭 I definitely want to go next time. Three of us stayed at the sea-side lodging. For 3 or more people, bedding is ➕2,200 yen per person. If you're close friends, I think up to 4 could work. Three felt just right. As for sightseeing, Hachijo-Fuji: we didn't climb it, but the Fureai Ranch partway up is about 15 minutes by car. The weather was nice, so the view was amazing. Cows were grazing freely and they were so cute. ※You can drive around Hachijojima in just under 2 hours, so you can get to the places you want to go right away. Sokodo Beach: the water is clear and you can see the bottom. It's not a heavily paved beach; there are rocky spots, so you can feel nature. Water shoes like sneakers are recommended. Uramigataki Onsen: free to enter, it's the best. ※Be sure to check the bathing hours. Mixed bathing, swimsuits required. It's like "here of all places⁉️", so it's hard to find. Sueyoshi Onsen Miharashi no Yu The location is outstanding. The water felt hot. There's no air conditioning; fans are running. I think you'll enjoy it more if you check the opening hours of the places you want to visit, supermarkets, and restaurants on Hachijojima in advance and plan your schedule to some extent. 2 days, 1 night wasn't enough. It's not easy to get there, but I want to come back for a do-over. For taxis, I recommend Seven Taxi. Apparently they operate until 3 a.m.
View on GoogleStayed 3 days, 2 nights in a mountain-side log house. My first impression was that weeds were growing thick around the building and throughout the property, to the point that the curbs and the protruding water valve(?) covers were hard to see. Inside the log house was generally well cleaned, but there were two things that bothered me. ① The red mold and water stains in the shower room were terrible. ② There was a stain left on the bed sheet. It was around the waist area too, so even if it had been washed, it didn't feel good. Not related to cleaning, but two points regarding bug control. ① Maybe the windows are poorly fitted, but there were gaps, and there were signs that bugs and geckos had been getting in through them. ② They said ants appear, so if it bothers you, please kill them with ant spray, but shouldn't the hotel first take the measures it can? I think just cutting the weeds on the property would make a difference in how many bugs appear. If they find out where the ants are coming from, they could take measures like spreading repellent, so I'd like them to consider it. The whole-unit log house has the bare minimum facilities, and I think the price is reasonable. (By the way, is it calculated as one bath towel per person for 3 days, 2 nights? Could we have gotten more if we'd asked separately? The timing was bad so I never got to ask, but it was something I wondered about.)
