A local restaurant that feels like a renovated old folk house, 100% island atmosphere. Used it for lunch. Visited on a Saturday afternoon without a reservation and was seated immediately. Island sushi is definitely the standard menu item recommended as No. 1. The wheat and ashitaba porridge is an excellent dish that makes the most of the quality ingredients. Eating it while thinking about the hunger and famine in Hachijojima at that time makes it taste even deeper. Payment is cash only.

I stayed in Hachijojima for 2 days, and I went to this place for lunch on both days. I’d say the restaurant has a very beautiful traditional atmosphere, and the prices are very reasonable. The lady staff wearing glasses kindly helped explain the menu using a translator and an English food guidebook, which I really appreciated. She was very helpful and kind. The food was also very delicious—I highly recommend this place!

A dining spot in an old folk house where you can fully enjoy the island atmosphere. The staff was friendly, and when I told them about my allergies, they empathized. They even swapped out the ingredients I'm allergic to, so I could have a delicious and fun meal. I visited for lunch; everything is a course, a basic course that you keep adding options to. The island banana smoothie was delicious, perhaps from the island bananas that were abundant outside. You can also enjoy the local wheat porridge.

They serve dishes that reproduce the meals served as a commemoration when the sentence of an exiled prisoner was completed and they were pardoned. They serve island-specific cuisine, and everything is delicious. The specialties are kusaya and whole-form shiogama (salt-crusted grilled fish); the shiogama is basically flying fish. The wheat porridge also makes you realize it's truly wheat rice. The island lemon sour is made with lemons harvested on the island and island shochu, and it's quite good. It's different from what you drink in Tokyo. It felt like I really came to an eatery in Hachijojima.
