On Friday night, the first day of 福生七夕まつり, I happened to walk past and became curious. I passed it once, but then made up my mind and opened the door. Apparently, they normally open only for 3 hours on Saturdays from 12〜15, but they seemed to be opening specially that day for the festival. The place itself has apparently been around for about 40 years, since the current owner's mother's time. Various circumstances have probably changed with the generational handover, but I felt comfortable knowing this good old coffee shop is still alive today. Suiting the sound of the name CAFE DE PUB, the interior combines a coffee shop with a nighttime bar, giving me a sense of nostalgia and excitement. The current place is apparently run by sisters, and the one I met had a very gentle manner. On the day I visited, there was an older gentleman who seemed to be a regular from their mother's time. He was good-natured too, and the three of us enjoyed chatting. Next time, I'd like to visit during the regular Saturday daytime hours.
