This is a small shop run by an elderly couple. Eel, which has become so expensive lately that it is hard to eat often, is available at a price ordinary people can afford. I ordered the Matsu and Kiku unaju for takeout. They came in folded paper boxes with a nostalgic feel. For this price, it is more than tasty enough. There is quite a lot of rice too, so it fills you up. As other reviewers have mentioned, the sauce has a little acidity. Personally, though, I am not very fond of sauces that are just sweet, so it was just right. I forgot to take a photo of the unaju…
View on GoogleIt is a small, cozy shop. On Doyo no Ushi no Hi, it seems they only offer the Tokujō unaju(3,000円 including tax). I was able to enter as soon as they opened at 11. Since it was unaju, I thought it would take a while, but it was served in about 8 minutes, which surprised me with its speed. The sauce is on the salty side with a little acidity. The eel has a crisp surface and is pleasantly light to eat. The rice has just the right firmness and tastes good too. The eel liver soup also has a lovely broth that is not heavy and goes very well with the unaju.
View on GoogleBefore visiting 大国魂神社 to pray, I made my first visit to 「うな政」, a long-established eel restaurant in 府中本町 run by an elderly couple. When I ordered a beer🍺, they served satsuma-age and simmered dried daikon as the appetizer. I ordered the Tokujō unaju, surprisingly cheap at 2,900円. Thinking it might take a while, I ordered oshinko for 500円 and settled in, but the food arrived in 15 minutes. Perhaps it had been steamed and prepared in advance? Still, the outside, both the flesh side and the skin, was wonderfully fragrant from grilling, while the inside was tender and not soggy. The sauce had slightly pronounced acidity and restrained sweetness, giving it a clean taste. It was truly delicious! But the interior only has 3 small tables seating 4 and 1 tatami seating area, so making a reservation might be a good idea.
View on GoogleApril 2025, weekday lunch I finally had the unaju. Kanto-style steaming really does not suit me. It seems I prefer Kansai-style eel grilled until crisp. I also prefer the sauce a little sweeter and more thoroughly coating the rice. Thank you for the meal. I paid with PayPay and left. ******* August 2023, visited for lunch Perhaps I should be reporting on an eel dish, but today I am introducing the oyakoju. This is a reasonably priced shop run by an elderly couple. Although the interior is not spacious, it is probably suitable as a workspace for the two of them. The oyakoju costs 700円 including tax and comes with clear soup. I prefer oyakodon with a slightly stronger dashi flavor and a fluffier texture, but this one is acceptable in its own way. It was a sufficiently satisfying lunch for me. Thank you for the meal♪
View on GoogleI had eel, and the sauce was not sweet, while the sansho berries were very tasty. It suited my taste. The shop shows its age.
