My parents are from Shonai, Yamagata, so I've been going to Yamagata almost every year since I was little. To be blunt, it felt a little different from the Yamagata and Shonai I had expected… There were fewer Shonai dishes than I thought. I felt that people from Shonai are still bad at promoting themselves. Even though they have so many good things…
View on GoogleBeing from Yamagata Prefecture, I understood the meaning of “もっけだの” and stopped by, but the owner's service and attitude were far removed from “もっけだの,” making it feel very tense. Not everyone from Yamagata is like this, so please don't get the wrong idea. Just walking in, I was told, “Close the door,” which was scary. Had me all flustered, haha. But the tama kon appetizer and tori chuka were delicious. Still, I won't go back. There are other places serving regional food that people from Yamagata can enjoy too.
View on GoogleMy 3rd visit because every dish is delicious and the proprietress's straightforward nature gets a ◯. The imoni soup comes in pork-miso and beef-soy sauce versions, with enough even for 2〜3 people♪ Yamagata Prefecture's Sakurabiton pork is ◎. The sashimi platter and ostrich sashimi are ◎ too. There's a wide selection of alcoholic drinks. You'd be missing out if you didn't try the mugikiri. The Yamagata yakisoba topped with shrimp (dried) also had plenty of vegetables and pork and was delicious. Next time I'd like to try the dashi, grilled fish, and chanpuru? too😋.
View on GoogleThe appetizer is practically a proper dish in itself. When I went, it had oysters in it. It's a Yamagata cuisine restaurant, but they had various dishes. Around 6 counter seats and 3 tables seating 4 each. Anyway, the imoni is delicious. Above all, the imoni is delicious. The owner seems to run everything alone and is a little low on energy, but provides proper service.
View on GoogleVisited for lunch. You can have mugikiri, a regional noodle dish from Yamagata Prefecture. I chose pork belly and maitake. I was delighted that it came with two small side dishes and rice sprinkled with yukari. The broth is on the sweet side without being cloying, with plenty of pork belly, maitake, and long green onions, and a generous portion of noodles. The noodles feel soft and gentle rather than chewy. I don't often get the chance to eat this, but I enjoyed it. Thank you for the meal.
