Fantastic!! Wow, so nostalgic!! This is a set-meal restaurant I used to visit often when I was single. It looks just as it did before, but perhaps because of COVID, the guy in the kitchen wasn't there, and it felt a little lonelier（ ; ; ） But the portions are fantastic, and so is the taste(^^) The lady runs everything by herself, but she doesn't cut corners on flavor! She prepares everything properly, so service took a little time, but it was that much more delicious❤︎ ※When it's ready, she calls out "Customer for (menu name)〜", and you go pick it up yourself. Since it's lunch, this generous portion is only 550円! It comes with pickles and a raw egg too(^^) The karaage is fried after you order, so it's hot and juicy! Ahh〜, completely satisfied❤︎ It's not a station I visit often, so I can't come easily, but I'd definitely love to stop by again! A set-meal restaurant I hope stays around forever.

The miso-simmered mackerel set meal with stewed offal is 800円. An absolutely great choice. Recommended for fans of Showa retro.

Like 三宝食堂 next door, this restaurant, established 66 years ago, has been used in many dramas and other productions. It was also used for filming 容疑者 室井慎次 from the 踊る大捜査線 series, and fans come to eat the same katsudon 柳葉敏郎 ate. It had been a long time since I'd had miso soup with wakame so soft it seemed to have been simmering since morning. Everything was salty. The raw egg was the only relief. I think the underlying seasoning is homey and delicious, but it's for people who like very strong flavors.

I happened to walk in while running an errand nearby. An elderly lady runs it alone, and it seems you take the prepared food to your table yourself! I ordered the ginger pork set meal, and it was really delicious. The sauce was sweet and savory, and the meat was thick but tender—fantastic! It even came with miso soup, a raw egg, and pickles, all for 600円! I had to ask again, 600円?!! Affordable, yet it satisfied both my stomach and my heart😚 I hope she takes care of herself and keeps this place going for a long time. I'll visit again!

On my way back from 府中, it happened to be lunchtime, so I searched for a casual diner. The atmosphere of きくよし食堂 caught my attention so strongly that I visited. It's just after turning left off 甲州街道 toward 調布. Perhaps because it was right in the middle of lunch, several groups of local office workers were waiting for their food. Surprisingly, there was just one lady in the kitchen. Among the many menu items, the 700円 set meals included stewed offal and a fried egg and looked like excellent value, but I deliberately chose the eggplant and meat miso set meal. A large rice portion was free… I carelessly missed that. A refill is 150円! The seasoning could keep you eating bowl after bowl of rice, and it came with a raw egg. I regretted choosing a regular portion, knowing it wouldn't be enough, and sure enough… it wasn't. I really enjoyed the delicious meal.
