The building is large, but there is not much to see. The museum is free.

I visited Fuchu City's Furusato Fuchu History Museum. The museum has a calm atmosphere, and Fuchu's history and culture are presented in an easy-to-understand way, so I was able to learn about the area's appeal while taking my time. The history of the Musashi Kokufu (provincial capital) and the results of archaeological excavations are also introduced, and I think even people who aren't well versed in history can enjoy it with interest. The exhibits are designed to be easy to view, and I'd also recommend it as a place to drop by during a stroll. It's close to Okunitama Shrine and Fuchu Station, and I think visiting it together with the surrounding sights will give you a deeper understanding of Fuchu's history. The museum feels clean, and another plus is that you can look around calmly in a quiet setting. I felt it's a facility that not only history lovers but also first-time visitors to Fuchu should definitely stop by.

It's on the grounds of Okunitama Shrine, in a spot you can casually drop by after visiting the shrine. I went around 11 a.m.; it wasn't very crowded inside, so I could look around at my own pace. It's a modern glass-walled building, and the entrance has a proper ramp. You can tell from the outside that accessibility has been taken into account. I was surprised by how substantial the exhibits are for a free museum. The exhibit on the “Kurayami Matsuri” on the 2nd floor is especially worth seeing, and the video on the big screen conveys the festival's intensity—it was fun! On the 1st floor there's a city tourist information corner and a small rest area. There isn't a huge amount to see, so you can easily look around in 30 minutes to 1 hour. Since it's next to the shrine, you can use the shrine's parking lot, but be careful as it fills up easily on holidays. I think it's the perfect place to get a quick overview of Fuchu City's history.

The Furusato Fuchu History Museum is located within Okunitama Shrine. It was built as a facility to help many people get to know Fuchu, a city of history, while having fun. 1st floor: Kokufu Materials Exhibition Room, Public Records Archive Room This facility introduces the results of excavations at the Musashi Kokufu site and related sites, as well as the city's history and culture centered on the ancient kokufu. For the kokufu research results, besides displays of excavated artifacts such as pottery and roof tiles, there's also the “Musashi Kamemaru History Sugoroku” and a Kurayami Matsuri video corner, so everyone from children to adults can learn about cultural properties and archaeological sites while having fun. 2nd floor: Kurayami Matsuri Exhibition Room 3rd floor: Furusato Cultural Properties Division office That's the layout, and the 1st and 2nd floors are free to visit. Fuchu's history from the Jomon period onward is displayed in chronological order, which was easy to understand and interesting.
