While exploring Fuchu, I spotted a familiar, nostalgic sign! So this time I stopped by the increasingly rare ramen shop どさん娘 in Fuchu! The red sign is unchanged from the old days, and the shop looks quite run-down! Don't look at a grove and judge the whole forest! You can't judge by appearances alone, so in I went! There were about 3 customers already, with counter and table seating in a Showa-era interior! The owner, looking slightly downward, offered me a counter seat! Of course, I'd decided on only one thing: a large Sapporo miso ramen, the shop's signature, and immediately ordered it! About 10 minutes later, the nostalgic large miso ramen arrived! Miso ramen was also what I always ate at どさん娘 in Sagamihara! Remembering that now-gone Sagamihara どさん娘, I took a slurp! The noodles had a nicely balanced firmness, making a good impression! Then a sip of the soup brought back that old flavor with its garlicky miso aroma! The miso ramen here did feel a little weak, though, and sadly lacked punch! But it was still perfectly tasty miso ramen, so I finished it all in one go! You could say it had no distinctive features, but it tasted good enough, so I'm happy! Visiting どさん娘 reminded me that there's more to どさん娘 than miso ramen! Unusually for a ramen chain, this location offers lunch specials, and surprisingly many customers were ordering set meals! It made me think the set meals might be the sure-fire choice! I left vowing to order a set meal if I come again! If you're in Fuchu, enjoy a nostalgic taste at どさん娘! By the way, parking is in front of the shop! With heartfelt gratitude for this nostalgic miso ramen, thank you for the meal!

It's down the alley just before Fuchu Road intersects National Route 20. There are four parking spaces beside the shop, but they're narrow. Inside, the counter seats about 8 people. The nicely aged, old-fashioned high counter has a pleasant feel. The ramen and gyoza set is good value, and almost every customer orders it. By the way, 「どさん娘」 is pronounced 「どさんむすめ」. It was originally called 「どさんこ」, but they were forced to change the pronunciation after losing a lawsuit against the entirely separate chain 「どさん子ラーメン」. Both chains also share the similarity of having had many locations in their heyday but now being rare.

Found a どさん娘 for the first time in ages. Had the ramen and gyoza set (700円) with miso ramen. Classic miso ramen, 3 gyoza, and white rice. It's completely standard with nothing distinctive, but the nostalgia, reliability, and low price are just my thing. I like ramen shops like this. There were plenty of noodles, so I was full, too. The ramen would surely be good with butter added. The set meals looked tasty as well.

This was my first visit. The building is showing its age, so perhaps they've been around quite a while. Everything on the menu was inexpensive, so I chose miso ramen and fried rice. While waiting, I noticed the tabletop condiments were quite dirty, which put me off using them😅 The miso ramen didn't feel like Sapporo ramen at all… The fried rice had separate, loose grains and wasn't really to my taste😅 Honestly, a half portion of fried rice probably would've been enough

As someone from Hokkaido, this just feels seriously off. Miso butter? No need to add it separately; it's already in the sauce. The corn's probably boiled, packaged North American corn, not Hokkaido corn, right? If it makes me ask “Have you ever eaten at Sanpei?”, that's not good enough! The noodles should be Nishiyama or Ichiryuu, too! This place is just an ordinary neighborhood Chinese restaurant… Left all the soup. Cheers
