This area once flourished as a post town along the Koshu Kaido. The historic site “番場宿” is nearby. The row-house-style building that preserves that atmosphere is “割烹番場屋”. The lanterns attached to the second-floor wall, bearing the words “Neighborhood safety” and “Peace throughout the nation,” are also a rare sight these days. It feels like looking at a period-drama set. When I was younger, my father-in-law brought me here to eat while watching the “Hyottoko dance” accompanied by Tsutsumi drum festival music, and I vividly remember how delighted my son and daughter were. Unfortunately, it's closed today. I'll come again.
View on Google割烹 番場屋 has a distinctive exterior with a retro Showa-era appearance. Perhaps this area is trying to preserve its early Showa buildings; just walking around is atmospheric and enjoyable. (I haven't been inside. This rating is based only on the exterior.)
View on GoogleIt's quite a characterful building. It doesn't look out of place even in historic Fuchu City. However, what appears to be a pub on the second floor feels somewhat mismatched with the building's exterior.
View on GoogleUsed it for a company drinking party Since it's reservation-only, there were no other customers, so we had the place to ourselves For drinks, bottles of shochu and other all-you-can-drink options were set out, and you helped yourself
View on GoogleMy wife has visited 2 times for work drinking parties, but I only know the exterior. Apparently it's strictly reservation-only, with a homey atmosphere and reportedly delicious food.
