Their delivery food had a reputation for being delicious, so I visited at lunchtime. The lunch menu is kaisendon and chirashi (regular). They're served from 11 to 13. This time I ordered chirashi. (I meant to order kaisendon, but somehow got it wrong (haha)) After a few minutes of waiting, a sushi tub appeared. The toppings were tuna, squid, kohada, egg, shrimp, imitation crab, shiitake, takuan, and sakura denbu. The tonjiru was also packed with ingredients and piping hot. There's a nostalgic Showa-era feel to it, with comforting flavors. At 800 yen, this is excellent value. I enjoyed the delicious meal. Next time I'll try ordering kaisendon!
View on GoogleWent to a sushi restaurant for the last lunch of the long holiday. Take a bus from Fuchu Station bound for the south exit of Kokubunji Station or the south exit of Musashi-Koganei Station, ↓ Get off at 農工大裏門 (about 17 minutes) ↓ Walk about 1 minute. There are counter seats and tatami seats. I sit at the counter. 2 customers are already at the counter. They're eating kaisendon. The proprietress? brings barley tea and a menu. The super-premium thing about this restaurant's menu—sorry, I mean its special feature—is that it offers super-super-premium nigiri. I don't really want to tell too many people, but unlike the usual super-premium selection, the super-super-premium has toppings larger than the rice, really huge toppings. I feel it's excellent value. With its huge toppings and delicious nigiri, this sushi restaurant is a hidden gem in the Tama area known to those in the know. Order One serving of super-super-premium nigiri (¥3,000) 2 tsubugai nigiri (¥400) Bottled beer (¥700) Total:¥4,100 Their unagi nigiri used to be extremely delicious, but now they only offer unadon. (They do have anago nigiri) Apparently they closed the restaurant for a while after losing their son? who worked with them and was to take over. (My condolences) But they said that if you request things like aji or awabi nigiri in advance when booking, they'll buy premium, delicious toppings for you. The bottled beer is Kirin lager. (I last had it when my office manager treated me as a new employee) I drink the slightly bitter bottled lager while recalling bittersweet memories of being a new employee. The proprietress serves tonjiru. The daikon, carrot, konnyaku, and other ingredients are individually large, plentiful, and piping hot. The chef hands me the super-super-premium nigiri and tsubugai nigiri directly across the counter. As you can see in the photos, the tuna, kazunoko, hirame, and other toppings are huge. The egg is also a huge topping sandwiching the sushi rice. The ikura and uni gunkan are fairly tasty. The roll is torotaku. The toro and takuan nori roll is delicious every time too. The nigiri with huge toppings The egg is rolled omelet that appears to be homemade. Lightly sweet, with just the right flavor. The kazunoko is reasonably fresh too, without any unpleasant smell. The hirame replacing aji (because I hadn't reserved) isn't dry as it often can be. It's tender, even juicy, and delicious. Putting the chutoro and otoro in my mouth brings a moment of bliss. Silence for a while. Saying they're tender and melt in your mouth is a slight exaggeration, but they're extremely delicious. The tsubugai isn't huge, but for the Tama area, far from a fishing port, it's not bad. I think it's delicious. Paid in cash. Another selling point of あまみ寿司 is that they tailor the nigiri to customers' preferences, such as no silver-skinned fish or shellfish for women, or extra shellfish and some kanpachi for men, and so on. Next time I'll reserve and have them buy delicious toppings before I visit. Full and satisfied again today. Thank you for the meal.
View on GoogleThe lunchtime kaisendon is amazing value! +100 yen gets you a large serving of rice, but it's hard to balance the rice and sashimi lol. The tonjiru is packed with daikon too and warms you up.
View on GoogleVisited for lunch and had kaisendon. Very satisfied that it came with a generous serving of tonjiru as well. I'll be back.
