This place offers great value for money if not the ambiance. I had lunch there and the portion was generous. It comes with free servings of salad, vegetable pickles and pumpkin-flavoured rice porridge in addition to what is already included in the plats du jour (a main dish, a bowl of rice, soup and small dessert). As for the taste, the fact that I was the only non-Chinese speaking client at that time says something?

I had lunch with a friend at 厨藝坊 平井. We went at lunchtime, and the first thing that surprised me was how generous the service is. Porridge, salad, pickles, and meat are available free buffet-style, and the set even comes with soup and almond tofu. I was really grateful for this much at this price. This time I ordered the Sichuan-style braised pork lunch set (large rice). The bold seasoning made the rice go down fast, and I even got a refill. My friend ordered things like chinjao rosu, and since the portions are large, it was nice that we could share and enjoy them. In the end, eating until full for 850 yen is very reasonable these days, I think. The food came out fast too, and the short wait even at lunch left a good impression. Smoking is allowed, so it's probably convenient for smokers, but non-smokers who dislike tobacco may want to know that beforehand. The balance of volume, price, and speed is very good, and if it were near my home I'd want to go every week. Recommended for a lunch when you want to eat your fill. There are lots of cheap courses on the rest of the menu too, so next time I'd like to go outside lunch as well, when I want a light dinner with drinks!

【Smoking OK🚬】【Lunch rice refills OK】【Free large portion of lunch noodles & fried rice】【Salad refills OK】【Sichuan cuisine】 There are 2 types of lunch menu: a typical neighborhood Chinese menu & an authentic Sichuan lunch. The regular menu is around 780 yen and the Sichuan around 1300 yen. Free rice refills at lunch are great. The century egg porridge is all-you-can-eat too. It's on the 2nd floor and hard to walk into, but once you go you get used to it (lol) Thank you for the meal. Seems handy for lunch in Hirai.

【Updated 2023.5.6】A Chinese restaurant in a building in front of Hirai Station. My regular Chinese place was unexpectedly closed on Monday, and I found this one while at a loss. Rather than seasoning tailored to Japanese tastes, it's the authentic kind, where you taste Chinese food as it is. Another plus is that the prices are super cheap despite being in front of the station. It's probably got empty seats because it's hard to walk into, but I think the taste and prices are impeccable.

Once inside, it's an ordinary Chinese restaurant, but in a sense it's the real deal. There's none of the neatness or attention to detail of a Japanese-run place. I had twice-cooked pork for lunch; the strong seasoning is fine, but unfortunately I couldn't taste anything delicious about it. Not sure if it's only at lunchtime, but there's an all-you-can-eat side dish bar. However, the lineup is a bit unusual and hard to eat, like porridge, chicken feet?, and pig's feet. Like the interior, my impression is that the flavors were sloppy in various ways.
