One of the best ramen restaurants in Japan
View on Google20250226 I visited with a coworker at 11:58, and we were first. We went in right when they opened at 12. Bought meal tickets at the machine. They have 家らーめん and 極らーめん. Why is 極らーめん cheaper even though it has 極 in the name? It's iekei, but there's no spinach topping… With those thoughts, I bought my ticket and sat at the counter. I ordered 家らーめん, regular size, firm noodles, with a nori topping. My coworker had something like 家オールスター, medium size. My ramen with firm noodles arrived in about 6 minutes. First, a sip of soup. The animal-based iekei broth really hits you. I thought it was delicious, but strong for the normal seasoning level (lol). I did wonder what would happen if you ordered stronger seasoning. First-timers should probably choose normal. Next, a slurp of noodles. They seemed somewhere between medium-thick and thick, and although I ordered them firm, they were quite firm indeed. Maybe they're naturally on the firm side. Well, as someone who likes firm noodles, I welcomed that. The chashu had a firm texture. A strong flavor seeped out as I chewed, but I suppose it was fairly ordinary? The nori was large, and the value was probably decent. I kept eating, wrapping the noodles in nori and slurping them, and finished everything. When we left, there was 1 person waiting outside. My impression is that if you're craving iekei ramen, this probably delivers the flavor you expect. It's a little strongly seasoned, but I think it's still perfectly enjoyable. Thank you for the meal.
View on GoogleThe high online ratings may have made me expect too much, so this rating might reflect more disappointment than necessary. I had the iekei ramen. I think it's good, but not so exceptionally delicious that it's worth lining up for. Even with normal seasoning, the flavor is fairly strong, so anyone who dislikes strong flavors might want to choose lighter seasoning. The shop may close early if the soup runs out or for similar reasons, so I recommend going early. That prevented me from eating here about 2 times, and I finally got in on this 3rd attempt.
View on GoogleAbout a 3-minute walk from the north exit of "小岩駅" on the Sobu Line. This ramen restaurant operates along 奥戸街道 (Metropolitan Route 60), serving Yokohama iekei ramen. The owner reportedly trained at "六角家 船橋店". There's a ticket machine immediately to your right as you enter, so buy your preferred meal ticket and hand it to the female staff member. You'll be shown to a seat, then sit and wait for your food. You can choose between 2 types: iekei or tonkotsu. The iekei ramen uses medium-thick straight noodles, while the tonkotsu ramen uses thin Kyushu-style noodles👍 A small rice is complimentary at lunchtime. State your flavor and other preferences when asked. Noodle firmness / firm, normal Seasoning strength / strong, normal, light Amount of oil / extra, normal, less ◆家ラーメン (880円), seasoned egg (130円) I requested firm noodles, normal seasoning, normal oil. A friend said the default noodles were soft, so I chose firm. The noodles are medium-thick, slightly flat, and straight. Apparently they're custom noodles from 大橋製麺多摩, with a chewy texture! Their hydration is a little high, giving them a slippery, smooth mouthfeel. The toppings are chashu (1 slice), seasoned egg (1), spinach, chopped green onion, and medium-sized nori (3 sheets). At 六角家 (in the now-gone 御徒町ラーメン横丁), the chashu really didn't suit my taste. But the chashu here is cooked at a low temperature, very tender, and genuinely delicious. Knowing this, I should have ordered 家チャーシュー or オールスター. I topped the complimentary small rice with doubanjiang and pickled red ginger provided on the table, then added black pepper. Dipped it into the soup, wrapped it in nori, and deliciously finished it all👍 Thank you for the meal(*・ω・)ノ
View on GoogleDropped in for lunch on a whim. You can choose between 2 types: iekei ramen and tonkotsu ramen. This time I had the iekei chashumen, medium size. Half a portion of rice was free at lunchtime. The soup is delicious, with fairly strong seasoning even at normal strength. The chashu was slightly rare and tasted good after being thoroughly soaked in the soup. Rice wrapped in soup-soaked nori is so delicious😄 They open at 12, so it's not suited to an early lunch, but I'd like to find the right time to come back and try the tonkotsu ramen.
