Nice place but access is a little bit difficult for you need to take train and bus. And it's way off usual touristic routes. The 600 years old pine tree is impressive, but it's the only main attraction in the vicinity.
View on GoogleVery peaceful and beautiful place to visit and prey. A hidden gem indeed.
View on GoogleLocated in a quiet neighborhood area, maybe a bit far away from usual Tokyo sights but for me it was worth it. Such a beautiful and well taken care of temple. There are many things to see and appreciate in a small place, so if you like temples this is very much recommended. On the way there I took bus 小72, on the way back I walked the ~1km and it was OK, walking through the showa shopping street was interesting.
View on GoogleMorning of November 7 Visited for the first time to see the Zenyoji Yogo Chrysanthemum Show. It's such a magnificent pine that “splendid” is the only word that comes to mind. It's about 8m tall and said to be over 600 years old. It's called the Yogo no Matsu (ようごう) and is a nationally designated Natural Monument. It branches out about 1.8m above the ground and spreads in a circle like an umbrella, with a splendid, unrivaled spread of branches about 31m east to west and about 28m north to south. Its canopy area is among the largest in Japan, and it's also called the 【Yokozuna of the East】. It's so big that you can't fit it in the camera even from a bit of a distance. If you go up the slope to the bell tower and Yokozuna-yama, from the top you can fit the whole thing in beautifully, look down on the wonderful pine from above, and get great shots. Please enjoy its wonderful branches from various angles. You'll surely get energy from the 【Yogo no Matsu】.
