A neighborhood soba shop I'd been curious about for a while. I stopped by for lunch. It was a cold day, so I had the curry nanban soba with shrimp tempura, which seemed like it would warm me up. But to get straight to the point, it wasn't very good. First, the soba was mushy and soft with no firmness at all, and I couldn't taste any of the buckwheat flavor. The portion was huge, like the bowl was packed full of noodles, but since it just wasn't tasty, I found myself wishing it would hurry up and be gone.. I was hoping the curry broth would have that soba-shop-style curry flavor blended with mentsuyu, but the flavor lacked depth, and only the sharp taste of curry powder lingered in my mouth. The shrimp tempura was a little cold in the center, felt like it had been made in advance, and the texture wasn't good. Unfortunately, it wasn't worth paying 1350 yen. That said, the service and the atmosphere are nice. The interior has that Showa-era air, your classic neighborhood soba shop. It's run by an elderly couple, and the customers skew older too, probably regulars from the neighborhood. Thinking about it that way, maybe this is soba that's well-liked by that crowd. On a weekday around noon, there were 2 or 3 groups of customers leisurely eating. It's a cozy little place with 3 tatami-seating areas and 2 tables. They'll also deliver if you're nearby.
View on GoogleThe soba is on the thin side and soft, so opinions might be split, but the shrimp tempura is big, this is what soba shop tempura is all about! Super delicious 😋 Showa-era atmosphere, and the proprietress(?) was really kind ◎ I'll be stopping by again.
View on GoogleA homey soba shop It had a cozy, at-home atmosphere and made us feel welcome, so it was a nice place. I regret choosing the piping-hot curry nanban despite the scorching heat, but eating soba while sweating isn't bad either. Next time I think I'll try something from the cold menu.
View on GoogleIt's close to my home, so I'd been curious about it for a long time, but this was my first visit. I had the lunch set of mori soba + yakiniku don. The soba is thin with a smooth, slippery texture. The dipping sauce is on the sweet side, maybe? The yakiniku don was served in a jubako box, of all things! The generous portion surprised me! There's not much meat compared to the rice, but it had homestyle seasoning and was easy to eat. The lady of the house chatted with me in a really friendly way, and the atmosphere was homey. The owner also greeted us cheerfully, it's a pleasant place (^^) There's tatami seating, so it seems easy to come with kids too. I've seen a few reviews saying the katsudon is delicious, so I'd like to try it next time.
View on GoogleI was craving soba so, so badly I Googled and came here alone…… The proprietress was really bright and cheerful, and as someone who came alone, I felt so relieved😃 I ordered the kamo seiro soba. Rich, sweet-ish dipping sauce. The soba was actually supposed to be the thick kind, but they'd already run out, so I asked for thin soba instead, which was fine. The soba-yu was thick and creamy, really delicious. The shop is clean and relaxing too.
