Visited around 20:00 It was the first day of GW, so there weren't many customers Glad I could get food right away Ordered paitan shio, paitan shoyu, and chintan kiwami shoyu Also ordered chashu rice and sauce katsudon as sides First, the chintan A clear soy sauce broth, but much stronger in flavor than its appearance suggests The seafood flavor was strong too, quite different from what I'd imagined The noodles were fairly thin, springy, and tasty The paitan was properly thick, and again strongly flavored The 2 kinds of chashu were delicious The broth clung nicely to the komatsuna too Personally, I thought shio suited the paitan broth better than shoyu The chashu rice had 3 kinds of chashu on top and was plenty filling The sauce matched well and it was delicious Huge thanks for the complimentary egg!!! Things like that really make you happyー Thank you Unfortunately, though I was feeling quite unwell, so I left a fair amount I did eat the egg Sorry When I'm feeling well I'd like to come back Want to try miso next timeー
View on GoogleAfter some business in Shinozaki, I visited 『麺喰屋澤』, which I'd been curious about for a while. I used to visit often when they operated the Suitengu location, but it closed, so I'd thought I absolutely must stop by if I ever came this way! It was after 8 at night, with 2 other customers inside. There were only about 8 counter seats, but the interior was fairly spacious. I bought tickets for paitan shio and a seasoned egg at the ticket machine. The bowl arrived in a few minutes. Very thick paitan broth, thin straight noodles, two kinds of chashu (pork and chicken), tender menma, komatsuna, seasoned egg, and nori—the toppings were spot on! Next time I'd like to try the chintan!
View on GoogleI had the chicken paitan shoyu. To jump right in, my personal view is that ramen is judged more by whether you like it than by whether it's good or bad, so I think an objective assessment is difficult. Even so, I'll say that I didn't feel the flavor justified charging 780円. The broth has a thick mouthfeel and a sweetish taste. For a moment I thought it might be quite concentrated, but there was no lingering savoriness to draw me back. Despite being very hungry, it tasted monotonous from the second mouthful onward, and I had no desire to keep eating. The greens, menma, and low-temperature-cooked chashu were simply sitting on top, contributing nothing to the overall quality or flavor. The wontons I added for 200円 had meat fillings with the same flavor and texture as frozen shumai. I don't understand why they bothered adding them to the menu. The ratings were fairly high, so I had expectations, but I thought the fact that there were no customers besides me was a more accurate assessment of this place. Are Shinozaki residents overrating it just because there aren't many other ramen shops? Rather than eat expensive, not particularly good ramen here again, I'd fry green onions in lard to make green onion oil and float it on Chicken Ramen. December 2018 update I had a ramen called something like chintan kiwami. Tastes differ, but I don't think I'll ever like this place. As on my previous visit, could you stop chatting with the female part-timer while draining the noodles and plating? Is ramen-making such a simple task that you can do it while chatting and laughing? Do you have no pride as a craftsperson handling "food"? I'm paying to come here for my important dinner, which only happens once a day... I was truly disappointed. The flavor is only as good as that attitude would suggest. What exactly about this ramen has reached its supposed pinnacle... These days, I think you need a very high standard to survive selling ramen at this price in Tokyo. It felt like they were just trying to put on the atmosphere of a popular restaurant. The noodles were stodgy and not tasty at all either. Rather than a place like this opening, I'd have preferred a Seiya or Ringer Hut.
View on GoogleA dependable ramen shop in the Shinozaki area. ★★★★★ Taste, impression ★★★★☆ Savoriness, enjoyment ★★★★★ Restaurant cleanliness The place is clean too. I've visited several times, and does it get tastier with every visit…? There are quite a few varieties, so it might be worth visiting a few times until you find a flavor you like.
View on GoogleI visited on Friday around 7:30 in the evening. It was my first visit and I hadn't researched beforehand, so I hesitated at the ticket machine. I ordered "kiwami chintan shoyu ramen with seasoned egg topping" and "paitan shio ramen with seasoned egg." The noodle thickness differed between the two. Both were delicious.
