For people of my generation, I think the name Tsukinoya Enkyo is more familiar than Tachibanaya Enzo. Enkyo was constantly on TV and radio shows like “Owarai Atama no Taisō.” Apparently Enkyo was originally from Hirai and also spent the final years living in Hirai, and since that building is open to the public, I came to visit. The house I arrived at was a neat, compact home. I had imagined the mansion of a popular celebrity, so I was a bit let down. The inside is also a perfectly ordinary house with nothing showy. On the 1st floor you can watch a DVD, but on the day I visited there was a performance in the next room, so I couldn't watch it because of the sound. On the 2nd floor a few items associated with Enkyo are on display, but photography was prohibited. As for exhibits, there's just a little about Enkyo's career and a few kimono worn on stage. This place is less about the exhibits and more about getting to see the last house Enkyo-san lived in.

I went to hear a study session of rakugo zenza. It's maybe about a 10-minute walk from Hirai Station. It's a clean, calm place in a quiet residential area. You can listen to rakugo while seeing the storytellers up close, so it's recommended when your favorite rakugo performer is appearing.

A wonderful venue on the 2nd floor, watched over by Master Enzo's famous smile. It's close to the station, clean, and the performers tell their stories comfortably. The staff also pay attention to small details, like managing the air conditioning temperature. And of course, your glasses won't fog up. I want to come again and again.

I was surprised. (⌒0⌒)/~~ I went out shopping at the Hirai shopping street by a different route than usual, and my body instinctively backed up on its own. There was the name of the famous Master 【Enzo】 along with a face wearing the master's signature glasses...? What is this place? Looking closely, it's the house where Master Enzo spent the later years of life, in collaboration with Edogawa Ward, with numerous items that bring back memories of Master Enzo, and a tasteful, stylish welcome all the way from the 1st-floor door to the entrance. In the back there's a kōza (stage), where Master Enzo greets you with a smile. There are chairs where elderly people can sit comfortably, and you can watch Master Enzo's stories on a large monitor. On the 27th from 1:30 pm, members of the 【Edogawa Ward Rakugo Study Group】 will take the stage for free. It faces the north side of Hirai Park and is about a 10-minute walk even from in front of Hirai Station,

This was my 2nd time. In a warm venue, I spent a blissful time listening to crisp, lively rakugo by the storytellers!
