カレー南蛮 with a rather mild flavor Dropped in with another person after 19 on a weekday. The seats near the entrance were fairly occupied, but the back was empty, so it was about 4 tenths full. We were asked whether we were eating or drinking, and when we said eating, we were given only the food menu. I ordered: ・カレー南蛮 そば 1,020円 It took about 5 minutes from ordering to serving. The soba noodles were thin, with more somewhat flat-cut chicken pieces than I expected. The curry was watery and bland, with a disappointing flavor. I appreciated the staff refilling our cold water as needed. Payment is cash or card. Separate payments were possible. Apparently lunch is cash only.
View on GoogleStopped by on my way back from a meeting. Every place had a queue at lunchtime, but fortunately only 2 groups were waiting, so I got in quickly. You order and pay at the register. I chose 上ごぼ天せいろ. The 上 version adds shrimp tempura to the burdock, eggplant, and maitake tempura. You can choose condiments and salt or soy sauce for the tempura according to your preference. You receive meal tickets. There is a separate ticket for each selected item, and they collect the ticket for whatever has been served, which is quite efficient. First, the dipping sauce, condiments, and salt are set out. The salt is 雪塩. Soon the seiro and tempura arrive. First I try the noodles plain. The whitish noodles are chewy. Both the aroma and flavor are mild. I put wasabi on the noodles and dip them in the sauce. The sauce is on the sweet side. I eat the tempura with salt and dipping sauce. They also brought soba cooking water, but I was full, so I declined. Service is quick and the staff are efficient, so I think it's convenient for lunch.
View on GoogleJanuary 14, 2025 I had the winter-only けんちんそば. 1080円 seemed expensive only at first; the enormous amount of vegetables made me feel it was excellent value. ーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーー When I come to a soba restaurant, I always end up ordering a simple soba dish. Today I chose きつねそば. As someone from Kansai, I prefer soba with a little more dashi flavor, but perhaps this is how it is in Tokyo. I paid 750円+150円 for a large serving at the entrance and received a meal ticket. After choosing ginger or yuzu kosho as a condiment, I was shown to my seat. Buying a meal ticket from an elderly man rather than a ticket machine feels so retro. The other photo is きのこそば I had previously.
View on GoogleVisited after 13 on a weekday. There were few customers, so I got in immediately. Ordered the 小天丼 and soba set (1400円). Cards cannot be used at lunchtime. The taste was thoroughly ordinary. They advertise fresh soba, but the soba flavor is weak and the portion is rather small. The dipping sauce is Kanto-style. The dashi aroma is weak, with a slightly sour aftertaste. The tempura in the 小天丼 is small and there isn't much variety. It tastes better than station soba, but when comparing prices and asking whether I'd pay the difference to eat here, my final impression is that station soba is good enough for me.
View on GoogleCame here for lunch on a weekday. I arrived after 12, and there were lots of people who seemed to be office workers; it was nearly full. About 10 minutes later, a queue had formed, showing how popular it was. Perhaps it's because it's a soba and udon restaurant, or because the prices are fairly low. First choose from the display case outside, then order at the register at the entrance and pay upfront. You're given a meal ticket and shown to a seat, then hand the ticket to the staff. The food came out immediately. I ordered トマトカレーせいろ, which was very filling, with lots of chunky vegetables and a healthy feel. It has a curry flavor, but the tomato dominates, so it's like curry-flavored tomato soup, and it's really delicious. Next time I'd like to try the soba.
