If you’re wandering around Tsukiji Outer Market and craving fresh seafood without the chaos of standing street stalls, TSUKIJIRO 築次郎 is a fantastic stop. The highlight here is simplicity done right—super fresh sashimi, beautifully prepared donburi bowls, and ingredients that clearly speak for themselves. The fish tastes clean, sweet, and buttery, especially the tuna and uni if you’re lucky enough to get them in season. Portions are satisfying without being overwhelming, making it a great place to refuel while market-hopping. The vibe is casual but slightly more relaxed than the busy street vendors outside. Service is efficient (as expected in Tsukiji), and everything arrives quickly, which is perfect when you’re in exploration mode.
View on GoogleIf you visit Tsukiji Outer Market in Tokyo, you must try this restaurant. The seafood is incredibly fresh and absolutely delicious—one of the best donburi bowls I’ve had. Portions are generous, flavors are clean and rich, and everything tastes premium. The staff are also very friendly and welcoming. Highly recommended if you’re in the area!
View on GoogleThis isn’t my first time at Tsukiji, and I’ve tried everything from Michelin-starred sushi place to conveyor-belt sushi spots across Japan. I should’ve kept in mind that most of the reviews seem to be from tourists, not locals. I went based on the high rating on google maps and ended up paying ¥4,500 for an overpriced, underwhelming kaisendon. Poor-quality uni, just two pieces of salmon and akami, and an excessive amount of overly salty ikura. I honestly couldn’t believe it when it arrived. The staff were nice and the atmosphere was fine, but the food simply wasn’t worth the price. In hindsight, I should’ve gone to one of the small local spots where locals were actually lining up. To top it all off, the table was so dirty that I only noticed after leaving that I had an oily stain on my pants from it. Disappointing.
View on GoogleI had the tuna bowl. Amazing food. The waitress suggested the right sake pairing for the food. I went just before closing - so there was no rush. Great place to sit down and experience fresh tuna.
View on GoogleSuch a tasty bowl of food! Was just off the high traffic area and got to sit down to eat on relative peace. Well priced, fresh and yum!
